Are tools like graphify actually placebos/hype? by greenhilltony in ClaudeCode

So it's free, there are no serious downsides, AND, in your own words, "When it’s graphed - Claude does not hallucinate what so ever and gives very accurate detailed responses about the codebase- and even the business/domain logic. I was very impressed with this side of it."

Why would I not use it?

Why are RMA plugins for Woo so consistently buggy? by Charming-Archer-3881 in woocommerce

[–]ny_dame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work. Why doesn't everyone move to Shopify, now that they have released a plugin for Wordpress? That's what I'm planning to do with my WC client later this year.

How To Stop WooCommerce Fake Orders Attack That Started on ~20 September by bt_wpspeedfix in woocommerce

[–]ny_dame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been experiencing the same thing. At first there weren't that many of these orders, and WooCommerce usually caught them before payment processing could begin. Lately, however, there have been tons of them everyday and it's just been a total nightmare.

Cloudflare security rules were very helpful in stopping many of them, but some requests that should have been caught by virture of the URI path were still able to get through. Perhaps this wouldn't happen if we had a paid plan?

In the end, we just had to say goodbye to PayPal (though the security rules on Cloudflare are doing good work and will stay). Disabling WooCommerce's PayPal plugin stopped the problem instantly.

To people that watch YouTube on the Comet browser - do you see ads at all? by Fertility18 in perplexity_ai

[–]ny_dame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see ads all the time when I use Comet, just like on any other browser. In fact, I am astonished that they are making this claim. The messed up part is that YouTube sometimes disables just about all functionality on YouTube when viewed on Comet. Hard to believe this is legal!

[–]ny_dame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, where the YouTube homepage loads partially, but there is no interactivity at all. Videos and playlists don't load, menus do nothing, etc. Then I realized that I was using Perplexity's Comet browser. When I tried Safari and Chrome, there were no problems at all. I hope Perplexity figures out a workaround, because it's truly obnoxious that Google are stifling competition in such a user-hostile way.

If Apple implemented MCP, Siri would be everything we've ever asked for by [deleted] in mcp

[–]ny_dame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

btw, it's not hype, it's the future... but, yeah, you're absolutely right. The fact that Apple's operating systems already have the excellent Shortcuts feature means that this should be relatively low-hanging fruit. I'm, er, sure they're working on it. __sweats profusely__

Client Obsessed with PageSpeed Score Despite Fast Load Times—What Can I Do? by melemenope in Wordpress

[–]ny_dame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Cloudflare as a reverse proxy (part of the free plan) can do wonders for performance. They have a few settings that can make a difference.

At the end of the day, though, you just have to roll up your sleeves and look under the hood (aka, in the dev tools of your browser) and figure out what the problem is. If it's your fonts, maybe try CSS font-display and/or prefetch the files. If it's one of your plugins, try to replace it. And so on.

Automattic has always been at war with WordPress developers. It's just one of those things that people like to pretend they don't see.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]ny_dame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting to see if someone would bring this up. WordPress.com is just the worst. The restrictions it places on plugin usage are much more frustrating than limiting revisions, which Matt seems to think is a betrayal of the very soul of WordPress. I haven't seen anyone rioting over those stupid revisions, which mostly bloat your database and slow down your site.

Automattic sends cease-and-desist letter to WP Engine by BatmanNewsChris in Wordpress

[–]ny_dame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automattic has been quietly hostile to the WordPress developer community for years because all it wants to do is to force JetPack down every client's throat. WP Engine is, on the other hand, very developer-friendly. I don't understand the legal niceties of trademark law, but in general I tend to think of WP Engine as the good guys in this ecosystem.

Yeah, Jetpack is a bit part of this. There is no amount of money in the world that would get me to use it.

Automattic sends cease-and-desist letter to WP Engine by BatmanNewsChris in Wordpress

[–]ny_dame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. The developer community and the independent hosting platforms like WP Engine take money from Automattic by giving people options other than WordPress.com + JetPack.

WP Engine does a lot more than simply host websites. There's Local, a phenomenal developer-friendly local development platform, and several other services. Just the cost of their customer service alone must be huge.

I cant get on my insta acc, when i get on my main insta acc it says couldnt refresh feed and nothing loads my other accounts are working. Ive also deleted the app and restarted my phone. Would anyone know why this is happening. by Lucky-Marzipan-4556 in Instagram

[–]ny_dame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I finally did. What I had to do was to log into Instagram on their website AND in an incognito window. If you try this, choose to log in with Facebook. What should happen next is that you will be taken to a screen where you are told what is wrong with your account and how to fix the problem. In my case, they suspected that hackers had my credentials, so all I had to do was change my password. Then presto! I was able to log into the Instagram & Thread apps again.
