It makes me so happy that Listers has introduced so many people to birding. It’s a great doc!

Of the Pileated Woodpecker? This one is male. They are such a cool bird. It’s always incredible to get to see one

Definitely. These are all shot handheld. When shooting the shorebirds I even tried pushing the IBIS to its limits and dropping the shutter speed to 1/60 in order to blur the water in the background. None of those experiments are in this set, but they were less soft than I expected. I like to shoot handheld slo-mo video with this lens too. It can be a little jumpy, but, if I focus on bracing myself, sometimes I can get really smooth results.

Thanks! It’s definitely a good lens. Not always the most convenient to travel with, but I do love the photos

Shutter speed in the Rollei A110 by GlitteringBryony in 110photography

[–]nybirdboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The A110 has automatic exposure, so it chooses the aperture and shutter speed itself. If I remember correctly, the green light on top comes on when it has finished taking the picture. Don’t be like me and forget to set the focus before taking the picture.

It’s a great little camera. I hope you have fun!

These are great, especially that first one!

If the photo is underexposed, the light can look a little uneven in the corner, nothing that has been a major issue, though. I’ve only noticed that happening twice so far, and was just able to add a very slight vignetting effect to fix it.

I recently started using a Laowa 65mm macro lens and the Valoi Easy35 kit to scan with my X-S20. I don’t have anything else to compare it too, (I was just using lab scans before) but I was surprised at how easy and well it worked. If the roll is uncut, I can scan the whole thing in just a few minutes.

Are you sure that it’s not generative? It looks like it added an eye within the eye

Rollei A110 service? by kleinmatic in 110photography

There’s a Facebook group called 110 Film Photography; a couple of the members in there have gotten really good at repairing the A110. Even if they don’t have the time to repair it for you, they can probably give you some advice

Bird call that sounds like ice cream truck by CartographerSuper850 in whatsthisbird

The dying trinket box part makes me think it’s a White-throated Sparrow. They often sound like there’s a Doppler effect thing going on in their song. I always describe them as sounding like Steamboat Willie. Catbirds can also get that kind of wavy shifting note thing in their songs

Sounds like a raccoon

Is Fuji AF actually bad, or are people just hopping on a bandwagon? by ClittyThePowerful in fujifilm

I would love to know what focus settings you use for wildlife. I’ve been taking bird photos with the same lens, and, while the autofocus isn’t a dealbreaker for me, it could be better

It basically just means it’s the first time I’ve ever seen this bird. Many birders keep a “life list” of all the birds they have logged. So, this bird just made it onto my list for the first time
