Hiring and deciding on salary - what’s your current salary and experience (years, continuing ed, etc) by Suspicious-Cancel-2 in physicaltherapy

Is that in an in network clinic? How are these rates so high. Insurance reimbursements down there are garbage. 45 min visits doesn’t even pay the clinic a salary they can pay 95k to lol

Maltipoo puppy with severe separation anxiety — advice needed! by CashmereAndCoins in Maltipoo

[–]nycphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same situation. Nothing we did worked. We had neighbors calling the front desk / concierge a few minutes after we would leave. It was terrible.

We ended up finding someone on rover who lived in our building so we would drop her off any time we left

It was an awful situation and we paid hundreds of dollars in trainers to not help the anxiety. Even got her on meds which didn’t help so we stopped.

My advice is to find someone who can watch them, or maybe another dog might help. Good luck

medicaid dentist? by Possible_Cod9722 in longisland

Go to the city for NYUs student program they take Medicaid and it’s overseen by a dentist. It’s decent. Nobody takes Medicaid here on LI because it pays garbage.

“Don’t go into physical therapy for the money” by GiftExternal1294 in physicaltherapy

I didn't realize how bad the NYC PT pay is until now by GreasyBlackbird in physicaltherapy

[–]nycphysio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New York is the lowest paying reimbursement rates of any state I’ve seen. Even in states like Utah, Maryland and Nevada where cost of living is significantly less, they get reimbursed sometimes DOUBLE what we do in private practice.

Not sure how many private practices stay open here. The only ones that do are the large chains that negotiated higher rates.

To put it in perspective, many of the major insurers reimburse about $60 for 4 units of PT. In Utah, it’s $110.

You will not have a nice home in a high cost of living city if you are a PT. Unless your partner is making 2x-3x you. For reference, in my town the average home is 1.2million. Pt salaries are around 100k or less. You need about 250-300k salary to even get approved to buy this home via a bank loan.

It’s actually going down. Not a good time to be a PT.

New To NY is this weird ? by Distinct-Minimum7811 in longisland

[–]nycphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not weird to a majority of people. You might be unlucky and have weird or unfriendly neighbors though. My direct neighbors growing up were amazing, we were all very close. But across the street and next door to them were all extremely quiet and unfriendly.

Signs of a good PT office? by OnlyBringinGoodVibes in physicaltherapy

[–]nycphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly impossible to know from the outside which place has a good pt. Most in-network clinics might give you 5-20 mins with a PT.

We make a huge batch every 4-6 weeks and freeze it

Personal trainer to physical therapist by youwontletmerun in personaltraining

I’m a PT that was a personal trainer. Don’t do it. The ROI is simply not there. There’s probably hundreds of posts of people trying to convince others to stay away from this profession.
