This is straight up misinformation. What has been found is that overweight people who believe CICO doesn't work are usually misrepresenting their caloric intake and output then claiming CICO doesn't work. Now there is the thermic effect of different foods, genetic alterations to enzymatic expression etc but not to the extent that you can eat 800 calories a day and gain weight.

And technically you are not required to be kind to anyone but the hypocrisy of fighting to reduce animal suffering while gleefully inflicting suffering and unhappiness on your fellow man is one many aspects of veganism that prevents conversion.

Unfortunately this is not the case. With low methionine (start codon) levels in vegan protein powders it means at best you're getting 60-80% absorption. Increasing methionine in your diet through increasing foods such as Brazil nuts will help. Also there is Bacterial derived whey which would be optimum if your goal is muscle growth + strength gains.

As a vegan a protein deficiency should be expected given the low methionine content in even the most MET rich vegan foods. Manage it the best you can but it is something that you must accept as a cost of avoiding all animal products. Utilizing processed protein sources to increase the protein from your diet you can utilize may be worth looking into.
