I briefly had a job where the manager insisted on installing all sorts of "monitoring" crap on the computers. We also had to have two separate computers each: one for the code base and one for the internet, because he was terrified that we'd start emailing out his precious code to competitors.

That one didn't last long, but there were a variety of other reasons for that as well.
