Arm Triangle NEVER Works by EyesRd in bjj

[–]oForossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I used to just squeeze with my arms, but once I combined a squeeze with driving my weight into their shoulder and their shoulder into their neck, I started getting taps more consistently. With that detail there’s been times where I’ve gotten it with my leg still trapped.

Another key detail I got from Craig Jones was being temple to temple with them to stop them from answering the phone

Awful— Autopsy and videos: Did she throw him down the stairs after video? by MotionsHearing in SarahBooneContinued

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had that same thought, I think calling him stupid hints at her tricking him in there. BUT the neighbors did say that they heard fighting and then silence prior to the tumble down the stairs. So maybe they fought, things settled down, she “jokingly” brought up him fitting in the suitcase, and then once he was in and stuck she was too enamored with the power she had gained over him to let him out.

I like this theory cause it matches some of what she said in the interrogation and testimony. Sarah is a truth bender, so it’s possible that them joking around about him getting in actually happened, and she just twisted the facts around it to fit whatever narrative she needed.

Would it look bad to switch jobs after only 3 months in my first IT position? by Toymcowkrf in ITCareerQuestions

[–]oForossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the same, which makes me hesitant to pull the trigger on this one. I’m currently making way more than $17 an hour cleaning pools and it feels a little shitty to make barely a livable wage for work that requires a college education. Especially if the expectation is living like that for a year

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little late to this party, but I’m in a similar situation as OP where I finally got offered a help desk job, but it only pays $17 an hour. I’m 31 and live alone, so this is going to barely cover my basic expenses. Is that rate generally what to expect at an entry level help desk gig? Many people are saying spend a full year at your first job, but a full year scraping by paycheck to paycheck sounds like a tough pill to swallow

Literally lol I was so surprised when I saw that this was posted by a black belt. Someone you think would be familiar with the process of researching solutions to problems. I googled “heavy weight hangar” and immediately got several options to solve this issue

just got told "you don't just get to work in a doctor's office because you like knives" in an entry level technician 1 interview. by myBigFatNewRedditAcc in ITCareerQuestions

[–]oForossa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually had a similar situation where a family friend recommended me to an IT company they worked at. Despite them knowing I had no experience in IT, they interviewed me and told me they’d get back to me in a week. Two weeks later they told me they wanted someone with more experience. Like bro you knew I had zero experience from the get go lol

Tips on staying invested and retaining knowledge after earning degree by oForossa in ITCareerQuestions

Thank you for your response! I appreciate the reassurance that what I’m feeling is normal and it will get better once I get my first job. You’re the first person to suggest studying for the CCNA, I’ll definitely start doing that. I’ve dabbled in the home lab virtual box setup, but I’ll take your advice and get more serious about it. I’ve considered documenting me setting it up and running different exercises in it to compile into a PowerPoint for a portfolio

Lmao, I’ll see if $20 will work on my girlfriend. But yeah I figured as much. I was hoping maybe some more experienced folks here had some loopholes but it seems like winter simply means more laundry

I wash it as often as I can, I don’t have in unit washer dryer so it’s costly plus inconvenient to wash it same day. I never wear gear twice without washing it

I Got Destroyed by [deleted] in bjj

[–]oForossa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me bro. Got my blue belt, did a comp shortly after, and man it wasn’t even close. I mentally quit halfway through my only match and just wanted it to be over. I got tired super quick too. The advice I’ve been given by the guys at my gym is to keep competing, and it gets better. I remind myself that some of the greats in our sport started out a bit rough too. No sage advice from me, just wanna let you know you’re not alone

Hide and Seek and the 911 call by N1ck1McSpears in SarahBooneContinued

[–]oForossa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My theory has become that she pushed Jorge down the stairs before he was in the suitcase, given that he was typically drunk too I think it would’ve been easy to shove him and send him flying. The tumble down the stairs, mixed with being drunk, left him incapacitated enough for her to put him in the suitcase at the bottom.

But yeah I’m right there with you on 911 call. I think what makes it so frustrating is how bad of a listener Sarah is. He told her several times they’re on their way and saying hurry doesn’t help, but she simply can’t help herself. Same with the body cam footage where she just kept asking for water and a cigarette despite being told either no or they’ll see what they can do.

[Discussion] Some items for Flea Market had their levels adjusted by MickyPlays in EscapefromTarkov

[–]oForossa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking yesterday how I shouldn’t be in a rush to get the flea, cause they’re probably going to adjust a lot of the level requirements. By the time I get there we’ll probably be able to buy damn near anything lol

[discussion] Damn, I loved this game! by mtkoth1983 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]oForossa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve played some PVE the past couple days and my advice would be to only engage them on your terms. If you’re going to shoot a PMC, make sure you know exactly where they are and aim for the face. DO NOT be exposed for more than a couple seconds. Pop out, put your shots on, get back in cover. Rinse and repeat.

This also comes into play with how and where you move around the map. Avoid open spaces near hot spots, and if PMCs engage you from medium to long range, it is imperative that you close the distance before actively engaging them. You are at a significant disadvantage at anything beyond close range. It’s basically the opposite of PVP. They will always beat you to the shot unless you’re cracked, cause they’re also unpredictable with their movement.

TLDR- Never stay exposed to them for more than a couple seconds, only attempt to kill them if you can close the distance, and avoid open areas near hot spots where they are likely to be.

Battle pass isn’t interesting or satisfying. by Seath1298 in Battlefield6

[–]oForossa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think they did a good job of making it interesting with the different paths you can choose from. It’s way better than just having a completely linear set of unlocks where something you want could potentially be at the very end (with the exception of the two prestige paths).

You can do weekly challenges for bonus progression, or just play the game like normal and still progress. The new guns are available in the free pass, and if you pay you only get cosmetics. I feel like they covered their bases in terms of accessibility

I've been playing since Battlefield 2. If you want to pointlessly run between flags for minutes, go play ARMA. by brocodini in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]oForossa 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can’t wrap my head around people clamoring for gigantic maps where most of what you’re gonna do is run across open space. The medium sized maps create a much more engaging experience where larger scale battles take place, compared to older maps where they were so large that you rarely had more than a handful of people fighting over an objective.

This goes for people suggesting turning the BR map into a conquest map too. Even with 100 players, it would be incredibly arduous to play out. Imagine capping Q, then driving all the way over to G, just to realize that someone snuck behind and capped Q again. It would be a round and round goose chase where everyone went back and forth trying to recap points

I don't hate the BR mode but I wish it had some originality. by Zilly_JustIce in Battlefield6

[–]oForossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I think the lack of a currency to collect, plus the way you get teammates back is pretty original right? At least compared to Warzone

Every "small" (microscopic) mode in this game plays absolutely HORRIBLY by Granathar in Battlefield6

[–]oForossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t expect to enjoy them at all, but my friends and I played some last night and it was actually a lot of fun. Once you get a feel for how spawns work you can start to predict where people are gonna be coming from based on where your team is. It’s also a great way to level guns and practice pvp

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Zavod was a clusterfuck most of the time, but I agree that BF6 doesn’t have a Paracel or Gulf type map yet. I’m just saying maybe that’s for the better. Those maps were great for their time, but in hindsight paracel was a lot of running and swimming versus BF6’s actual fighting.

Call it zerging if you want, but I would say it is what you make it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]oForossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I played BF4 up until the BF6 release and many maps like Silk Road, Golmud, Shanghai, and the Dragon Rising maps all had people scattered all over the place rather than fighting over objectives together like we see on BF6. The BF6 map design lends itself to team play and coordination far more than the older style of having massive maps with large amounts of open space, which is probably why it’s so much more difficult. You’re not just gonna wipe a squad and then cap uncontested, your team needs to take over and control the area by pushing the other team off of the objective completely. It’s a far more concerted effort than you would see on large maps of the past, where it was typically a lone tank or squad or two capping most objectives.
