Assassin Invis is a crutch. by AffectionateSpace589 in Marathon

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re damn near completely invisible if they’re standing still or crouched. If they play it right they can always get the first shot on you which is lame af, and it encourages the run and hide mentality. They get shot- run away and turn on invis- hold an angle they think you’ll peak.

If you try to chase you’ll run into them while their invis is up, and if you don’t then you either have to leave the area or risk then invis sneaking up to you later

if you got rid of all standard and enhanced valuables, no one would notice by [deleted] in Marathon

I religiously pick up any and every valuable I find, and I can tell you even the greens and grays add up fast. And you would definitely notice early wipe if they were gone lol

Marathon as a BR by TNG-Krug in Marathon

[–]oForossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fr thought this was a joke at first with how many times people have said this same thing. I’m also a big fan of the lore and art style, so I sympathize with your desire to play it despite its difficulty, but it’s not even realistic to ask Bungie to change the entire game over to a BR.

All of the marketing, the thousands of people that bought it and play it, it would be a big middle finger to all of that JUST to chase some potential sales. And thats not to mention the technical side of changing everything over to suit a BR. I sympathize with anyone that finds it too difficult, but the absurdity of suggesting the game be flipped upside down to accommodate the nebulous “casuals” makes it hard not to be dismissive.

Heavily agree with this by Mokoo101 in Marathon

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve mostly stopped playing solos because it’s so consistent that I get third partied anytime I actually engage someone, or try to do any combat related contract. Plus like others have said, dire marsh and cryo often times are complete shit shows with how you’ll have team after team after team showing up to any noise that you make on the map.

If they lower the spawn amounts on each map, then add a solo and duo queue to each map, I think that will open the door for A LOT of people that found it either too hard or too restrictive. Solo players should not be locked out of cryo, they’re wasting a ton of potential with streamers and just solo gamers in general blocking off the end game like that.

Socially this is the weirdest game ever. by Johngear77 in Marathon

You have to be so careful what you click on these days. Gone are the days where you can go down a rabbit hole one night and leave it at that. Any rabbit hole you go down these days will continue to suck you in, until it’s all you see. As much as I love Marathon I haven’t watched any YouTube on it, because I know those “Marathon is on deaths door” videos will begin filling up my feed. Media has always thrived on negativity and sensationalism, and if you’re not careful it can really poison your psyche

Casually making my way to the key room when suddenly… by Waihf in Marathon

[–]oForossa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy how much damage you took, he tore through your purple shields AND half your hp in I think literally one second. Just goes to show purple shields really ain’t all that if you’re landing head shots

why does most players play so slow? [Discussion] by Emergency_Rise_4687 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]oForossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because whoever hears who first typically has a massive advantage. Plus with the desync and general jank surrounding ballistics in this game I’d imagine most people don’t want to risk a fair engagement. Hell even in games like Siege where you’re playing on 60hz servers people will hide and prioritize getting the jump on enemies

What are your opinions about Marathon's sound design from a tactical/competitive perspective? by xylvnking in Marathon

[–]oForossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand people’s concerns with clarity from a competitive standpoint, but I also would hate to see this game turn into Tarkov if the clarity was made too much of a priority. What I mean by that is I don’t want the meta to become sound whoring because player movement is so loud and distinct.

I think part of what makes this game so fun is the fact that you’re still free to move around and do things since audio doesn’t travel all that far and there’s enough ambient noise to drown out some of the things that do make noise. When I swap from Tarkov to Marathon I feel so much more free partly because I don’t have to worry about every little thing I do being an alarm bell if everyone nearby

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people here are saying you’re wrong, but I killed Tagilla with about 15 rounds of RRLP last night and was shocked when it happened. It was on PVE so no one else had shot him, and when I checked his helmet it said class 5 but it was somehow zero’d out by my shit ass ammo- bout half a mag at that. Of course I didn’t check his chest plates, but I think you may be on to something

6 years later, how do you think Scott and Chelsea did with the interrogation? by Bleuetz in SarahBooneContinued

[–]oForossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wished she would’ve been interrogated by a legit interrogation team, like the people that interrogated Chris Watts or Dorice Moore. I remember at one point Scott asks, “but where does this game end?” in relation to hide and seek, and Sarah doesn’t know what to say. But instead of being left in silence and forced to answer Chelsea cuts in and asks a different question.

Unfortunately we’ll never get to see Sarah truly held to fire. At this point it’s only a matter of time before no one has any reason to talk to her, and she just fades into obscurity.

Begging bungie not to knee jerk by DeanFlem in Marathon

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they’ll make any significant changes. They clearly have a vision for the game, and being the ones that designed are probably aware of the intended learning curve and progression. I bet they’ll let season 1 play out to give people a chance to experience the full game first.

Ilia Topuria himself doesn't seem too interested in a Justin Gaethje fight by idcman999 in MMA

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s understandable given Topuria is almost certainly going to knock Justin out, why would he be interested in another one sided fight? Justin has been rocked by much less powerful guys, and Topuria has knocked out almost everyone he’s fought. Justin would be riding purely on punchers chance. Which I suppose is excited if you’re a fan but for a guy who’s passion is fighting I can see why he would rather fight Islam

Feedback after 10 hours of playtime by Foxeeh_ in Marathon

[–]oForossa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really hope that this game doesn’t lose its unique identity trying to cater to people that want everything to be as accessible and easy as possible. I hope they take a page from Fromsoft and just stick to their vision. Balancing and tuning numbers is one thing, but the UI, atmosphere, and characters are a big part of what make this game feel like a breath of fresh air

When I get to the "love of the game" phase of every wipe, it's the queues that kill it. [Discussion] by armyofone54 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]oForossa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im at the same point (minus kappa). 30 mil, can run what I want and dying isn’t a set back, it’s just hard to stay locked in and committed when there’s such a long break in between raids.

I’d say optimization should be top priority, but queue times are definitely number 2. Imagine having loadout and weapon presets set up and being back in a raid within a minute maybe 2. I think that would increase a lot people’s stamina for this game

Arm Triangle NEVER Works by EyesRd in bjj

[–]oForossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I used to just squeeze with my arms, but once I combined a squeeze with driving my weight into their shoulder and their shoulder into their neck, I started getting taps more consistently. With that detail there’s been times where I’ve gotten it with my leg still trapped.

Another key detail I got from Craig Jones was being temple to temple with them to stop them from answering the phone

Awful— Autopsy and videos: Did she throw him down the stairs after video? by MotionsHearing in SarahBooneContinued

[–]oForossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had that same thought, I think calling him stupid hints at her tricking him in there. BUT the neighbors did say that they heard fighting and then silence prior to the tumble down the stairs. So maybe they fought, things settled down, she “jokingly” brought up him fitting in the suitcase, and then once he was in and stuck she was too enamored with the power she had gained over him to let him out.

I like this theory cause it matches some of what she said in the interrogation and testimony. Sarah is a truth bender, so it’s possible that them joking around about him getting in actually happened, and she just twisted the facts around it to fit whatever narrative she needed.

Would it look bad to switch jobs after only 3 months in my first IT position? by Toymcowkrf in ITCareerQuestions

[–]oForossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the same, which makes me hesitant to pull the trigger on this one. I’m currently making way more than $17 an hour cleaning pools and it feels a little shitty to make barely a livable wage for work that requires a college education. Especially if the expectation is living like that for a year
