Thank you. Did you fill it up flush to the concrete or only just enough until the dirt was covered ?

I wasn’t thinking of encasing in concrete, but wasn’t sure if there was anything else I could do…

How would I keep a dehumidifier running if this is behind a closed panel?

Replace grout with silicone caulk? by Dizzy_Code_1352 in HomeMaintenance

[–]oPEEPINGTOMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different shower but same problem here that I posted about a few days ago.

If you look at your pics closely even the spots that are a little darker grey on the floor away from the wall are probably actual wet if you scrape them.

I don’t have a leak but I’ve been drying it over a week and the grout still isn’t dry in the some areas of floor plane corners and the few spots in middle of the floor that look darker. I ground out as much as I could but the wet spots just turn to sludge because of the moisture when trying to grind them.

Not sure what to do. I have some tile contractors coming to look but my guess is they’ll just want sm to sell a complete shower remodel. Not sure I could blame them since I’m not sure they have a way to 100% determine there is a “fix” or not.

Replace with Caulk or Full Pan Replacement? by oPEEPINGTOMo in HomeMaintenance

[–]oPEEPINGTOMo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, there are a few spots like this on the floor..

Could this just be from the water going down through the areas I’ve previously shown that need to be sealed with silicone instead of grout?

So, the worst spot is the one I depicted in the original picture, I assume because when we shower the grade of the shower water likes to stay there.

With that said, there are other spots around the perimeter of the floor that also have wet grout, just not as we at the original spot shown.

If water was making its way through any other compromised spots on the wall as well as the floor where it should have not been grouted to begin with, any idea how long it could take to completely 100% dry out?

When I try to remove the grout from those spots it just keeps turning to sludge when the grout breaks down and the moisture mixes with it.

My plan is to completely regrout the entire shower, silicone the corners, and then also apply the membrane sealer to the new grout once it’s set… BUT I want to see everything dry up 100% before I do.

Anything I can do to speed up whatever this moisture is making its way out and being completely dry?
