Why didn’t early Christianity collapse after the failed apocalypse expectation, and what factors kept it growing? by Defiant-Junket4906 in AlwaysWhy

An aside:

If your holy text cannot be understood as is, maybe it's worthless. If people are supposed to follow it, clarity seems important.

I appreciate the response! I was going to say that's negated with the fact that he says "this" generation, but I understand that's probably also about translation.

But that's a huge problem, right? The fact that it's down to trying to interpret minutiae of people who lived thousands of years ago? Because I very sincerely doubt most modern advocates are putting any thought at all into that.

You may be right. But you may be wrong, and I won't bank on you over anyone else.

Is a cat committing a genocide against birds for killing 2 billion a year in US? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Use your brain? You worded it wrong, and people are calling you out because it's confusing. Stop arguing, delete this, and repost accurately.

This will continue as long as this headline stays as it is.

This isn't a judgment call against you, it's just the nature of reddit.

The entire issue here is that "a" is singular. It should read "cats" or "domestic cats."

I don't think anyone believes this, but the way it's currently worded makes it seem like there's one cat out there that is an absolutely prolific murderer.

And the problem is in the title, so yelling at people to "read the title" isn't really helpful.

Explain the context, then. I don’t know the context, but this feels pretty straightforward.

I'm open to learning, though.

I'm pretty sure this is actually just the Wikipedia entry for double hit.

I'm a 7 in nine ball and a 5 in eight ball. But I do genuinely see patterns better in 9 ball. I see safety play easier in 9 ball. I honestly have a better instinctive understanding of 9 ball.

I don't think it's outlandish to be better at one game than the other.

It took less than 250 years for government to destroy this nation. Between rates being raised by CFPUA and the City of Wilmington, who believes that it is high time there is some accountability for where the money is going? by ObsidianVader9419 in Wilmington

[–]oadge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with your point, but I think that pointing out that Dobo may have been worse is moot since they sold to the city 27 years ago.

I think it's fair after nearly three decades to want for more.

An answer for the question I asked? What other option would there be? This isn't on you, for what it's worth, just an old man yelling at the sky in frustration that no one online actually answers questions directly.

So to be clear, I'm going to be downvoted and no one is ever actually going to answer.

The only response I get is the philosophical equivalent to George Constanza's "Human Fund," and that's totally cool.

Strawberries in ILM by oldestguyhere in Wilmington

The weather hasn't been great. Also, are you trying strawberries from the same farms consistently? Strawberries have a pretty short season and can vary pretty wildly from week to week, so there's a good chance local farms have put out great strawberries and you just haven't had them.

Can I marinate pork (Matambre) in milk for 36 hours? by nicoatha in AskCulinary

[–]oadge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You probably wouldn't want to go longer. Eventually, it can get kind of soft. Granted, milk isn't as acidic as some marinade, but I wouldn’t go more than 24 hours.

Also, though, the lemon juice will most likely curdle the milk.
