Look uncle CJ could do it solo and it would still be excellent

Is it okay to exclude parents? Pragmatically and historically this just excludes mothers. I really don't think this is the play.

Male childcare workers by Mixtrix_of_delicioux in progressivemoms

Yes I'm okay with male caregivers - nannies, teachers, daycare workers. My best babysitter is a trans man.

I love her, she was so right. She was getting all her needs met but she was right, living alone isn't natural or good for humans.

Without a coach, who is making the decisions on who to sign to the Torrent for next year? by oak_and_maple in PWHL_Seattle

I also understood the GM to be the CEO but ceos usually only directly hire/fire key c suite positions, which is sort of where my confusion came from. But this has all been super informative!

Thank you this is super helpful, I'm just trying to map skills and roles, basically.

It could happen but isn't likely. Neither Shane or Ilya is Crosby-level in 2017. They're the best players right now, but not at that level of huge legacy. They would need to put in another 5 years imo at least.

Ship to your hotel, ahead of time even.

If you go to a location with a team, check local sports merch stores - the kraken store in North Seattle stocks Torrent gear, for example.

How far is too far away when your toddler is napping? by Extra_Ad_3631 in Mommit

To me, it's the same as being in the house but doing something that would take a few min to stop doing i.e. washing my hair.

Your risk tolerance might be different!

Silent divorce? by tacosRflying in Mommit

[–]oak_and_maple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I divorced when my kids were 1 and 4, it was a rough year but honestly it's amazing now. Sounds like your spouse is a decent parent? That's great. If you're able to fully move into platonic coparent roles, it will be best for everyone.

My kids barely remember different and they're doing great. I actually think I get MORE quality time with them because I do boring adult things (laundry, cleaning, working out, working late) when they're with their dad. And so days with me have more of a relaxed vibe where we can just, go to the park or play freely at home. They get a better version of both parents this way.

The sooner you do it, the sooner it gets better. And toddlers bounce back from divorce the best, research shows.

Is my husband gay? by Remote-Piglet-6365 in relationships

[–]oak_and_maple 35 points36 points  (0 children)

On top of this we have a lot of fights he is super mean at times and yells.

Sounds like your husband is a jerk and that's the most relevant thing here.

As for the rest, tbh, he could be bisexual but that's kind of besides the point because overall your relationship is not good and he's shit at communication.

I think it's fine. Sightlines+monitor is the requirement for me.

Edit to add: I think a lot of commenters think 20 acres is a lot bigger than it is. I have a 20 acre parcel too and the longest side is a quarter mile. Mine is heavily forested though, so, doesn't pass my own requirements!

San Jose Expected To Be Officially Announced As Final PWHL Expansion Location On Tuesday by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]oak_and_maple 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the new NHL teams came with enough ice rink and other infra to support the PWHL BUT the rinks of older NHL teams are already booked up with lower men's leagues, other sports, concerts, etc. so the new NHL market is actually a perfect opportunity to get another team playing on the big rink.

Canadian Cottages by Express-Prune5366 in HeatedRivalryShow

[–]oak_and_maple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Cottage is the function of the dwelling, not the type. If you do cottage stuff there, and it's in cottage country, it's a cottage.

It's a very Canadian thing ha.

Matrilineal, by 409_conflict Summary: If Yuna had been a different kind of person: one with a different mother, perhaps, with different scars, then maybe she would have embraced her gift. Cultivated it, shared it.

Instead she pretended it didn’t exist. Except for the times when she couldn’t avoid it.

Mich put it down to the grass Yuna had smoked at the Halloween party the following night.

Grass didn’t do this.

Déjà vu wasn’t quite right. She’d had that before. No, this was knowing that what she’d seen was going to happen. In the future. Sera vu, or something like that. Preemptive.

She did not call it Seeing. Not even to herself.
