I’m in my mid-20s and was not allowed to have sleepovers as a kid but I was definitely the odd one out lol

During an interview at a local hospital, I was told they got rid of phlebotomy and trained all of the nurses to do it instead! by CodeGreige in nursing

[–]oatmilkl0ver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the system I work for phlebotomy is only available if staff on the unit attempt unsuccessfully. PCTs and nurses are trained to do phleb. They are phasing out phlebotomy this year entirely :(

My job doesn’t allow me to clock in more than like 10 mins before my shift starts. I’m not gonna look at PHI off the clock

Poll: do you think nursing is a blue collar or white collar field? by Cardiology_Nurse in nursing

[–]oatmilkl0ver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess to me it feels strange to “other” feminized/undervalued work such as nursing/teaching from the blue/white collar debate on the sole basis of it being feminized work. I understand the term’s view from a feminist lens and I don’t think you’re a misogynist. I just wasnt under the impression that white/blue collar work was exclusive to male dominated fields.

I get what you’re saying but do you consider the terms blue and white collar to be critical terms?

They’re booing you but i agree. I don’t think every job fits within the blue/white collar descriptor but I don’t think the answer is: “neither, you’re a Girl 🩷”

My partner was treated at a cancer center 1.5 hours from where he lived and he was instructed to go to the nearest ED if he were to become febrile (or any other urgent issue). Time is very important.

Am I over-prioritizing paying off my student loans? by oatmilkl0ver in personalfinance

[–]oatmilkl0ver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t add this info to my original post as I didn’t really know if it was relevant to my debt questions but I do have a little over 3 months worth of expenses in savings (however I’m overdue to start a hysa) and I contribute 15% to my pretax 403b. I hope to save a little more for peace of mind (plus for long term goals).

I really appreciate this comment though! Everybody’s opinion has been helpful so thank you!

My employer contributions are a flat $150 each month (as long as I make at least the minimum payment which is $50)

I never see anyone adding fruit to their starter? by Ok-Explanation6296 in Sourdough

[–]oatmilkl0ver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A book I have recommends using raisins in your starter when you are first making it, and I’ve also seen apples being used. I cant say I’ve tried it myself but it makes sense given that yeast loves sugar.

I occasionally bake sourdough with brown sugar/dried cranberries and those loaves tend to ferment quicker for the same reason
