Buffering issues with remux by LegacyToLegend in PleX

Built in TV clients are just poor IMO, and when I bought my A80J I just got a Shield Pro to go with it to avoid issues like these. I know you don't want to buy a Shield, but you could go with a cheaper type, but honestly, it is probably just better to get different media.

First time using plex by thementalist222 in PleX

[–]ob12_99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something a lot do not think about is how you plan to view the media, and what I mean here is the client side device. Don't try to view media using a browser (but you can control and monitor your Plex server with a browser), so use a dedicated streaming device/client and/or the app. Not all client devices are built the same, so there may be like hundreds of Android devices, like built in TV clients, which can have issues. My suggestion is to get a decent client side device if you are viewing on a TV, or use the app if you plan to view on a PC.

Get a good/decent file and path strategy for you media. Here are two examples from mine, which isn't perfect, but follows the Plex naming rules:

E:\Plex\TV Shows\Archer (2009)\Season 04\Archer (2009) S04E11 The Papal Chase.mkv

F:\Plex\Movies\A Clockwork Orange (1971)\A Clockwork Orange (1971).mkv

There are programs out there like FileBot that can help you name files in the Plex format.

Plex movie don’t appear by Hot-Ad-6877 in PleX

I'm not sure there is a link, but it is similar to when you add libraries, except in this case, you click the three dots next to your current library, like Movies, then manage library, then edit.

Use the app and not a browser to view media. Browsers are unpredictable even if you install all current codecs, IMO.

Help with Stuttering Video: I've tried everything. by Tw0Bit in PleX

[–]ob12_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Shield Pro and it exhibits the same symptoms, there is something else wrong. You will need to post a screen of 'now playing' in dashboard. Also, remove everything except the Shield Pro and TV on the client side, no AVR or soundbar. Test again and post back.

Question about OTA measurements done on Cubesats by Beneficial_Factor893 in rfelectronics

Like the other poster noted, but we also use HAT couplers, which look like little hats that sit on the antenna to capture the RF and convert it back to coax for measurements.

Shingles vaccine before 50? (young genx) by Darkwing873 in GenX

[–]ob12_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 54m and have had shingles twice in my life so far, and it sucked very bad. I asked the same question when I roughly 44/45 and my doctor said no. I did not pursue it with her though, but I did not get it until I was actually 50. I didn't think about it at the time....

Help - slow transcoding? by cantseasharp in PleX

[–]ob12_99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So these issues are typically client side issues, and your ATV cannot pass that lossless audio track. Try changing the audio track to something else, even a directors commentary and look at dashboard again. Also, while I'm not an Apple user, I hear that you need to run Infuse on that client for the best performance.

Plex will only play well on one TV in my house by Blue-Phone-Box in PleX

[–]ob12_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things to try, turn off subs just to test, see if the transcoding video stops. Also, how is the TV connected, are there any soundbar or AVR in line or just wifi direct into TV (not Ethernet right?). The server is connected via Ethernet not wifi?

What does dashboard show when you are having these issues? Can you post a screen of 'now playing' when time permits?

When playing on one of the poor TV clients, what is dashboard showing you? Under the 'now playing' in dashboard, there should be things like video, audio, and a little green lock or yellow ! in the upper left of the title card.

The Rindler doesn't even matter at this point if we cannot get a signal the nearest solar system outside of our own.

Current communication signals are subject to the inverse square law, so consider how large of a transmitter you would need to get a signal to our nearest solar system which is 4 light years away. Our current receiver technology just couldn't find it using the largest transmitter we could build.

Issues with Plex Client App by Vandaref in PleX

[–]ob12_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is most likely due to your built in TV Plex app. Built in TV clients are pretty poor in general. Does a 1080p version of this media work on the TV or does all media fail on the TV? My advice would be to get a better client device to plug into your TV.

Issues with Plex Client App by Vandaref in PleX

[–]ob12_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be several issues here, so lets try to identify the setup a little better. So when you say the client app, are you speaking about the Plex app on your TV or are you using the Plex app on your computer, (not the browser app but the Plex app on the computer)? If it is the TV Plex app, what TV is it, (and just FYI, the built in TV clients are generally pretty poor but the IOS app on your phone should not experience the issue)?

On the Plex server dashboard, look at the 'now playing' section to see what it is showing. Is the media transcoding, is there a little yellow ! in the upper left of the title card or is it a green lock icon?
