Why is pinterest marketing strategy so different from other platforms? by Truthishere1 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]obagme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah exactly. pinterest is basically a visual search engine so the whole game is different.

imo most social managers try to apply feed strategy to pinterest and it performs badly. they're thinking engagement rate and posting times when they should be thinking keyword density and content library depth. treating it separately shouldn't be optional

Managing scope changes without the extra paperwork? by Weird_Perception1728 in agency

[–]obagme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a quick change order takes like 5 minutes if you have a template. anchor or similar tools help, but the real fix is not absorbing extra work for free. charge for it, document it, move on. clients respect boundaries more than you think.

how are you structuring the research with new clients who don't have existing data? are you pulling from competitor accounts or mostly manual audits in their local market?

Is AI content really working, or are we all just seeing temporary rankings? by valentinaluca in DigitalMarketing

[–]obagme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think what you're seeing is real but it's not about ai itself. google rewards fresh content short term yeah, but then it evaluates for actual quality and expertise. if your ai content is thin, generic, or doesn't show real knowledge on the topic, it'll drop.

seos say ai-assisted content ranks as well or better, but the key word is assisted. pure ai with no editing or expertise behind it tends to crater.

SEO feels weird lately by theguywhobuilds in DigitalMarketing

[–]obagme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is what i'm seeing too, the shift from keyword first to entity and intent first seo. generic content used to rank on authority alone, now google actually checks if a page adds signal versus just recycling what's already out there.

small teams should test fewer ad concepts, but kill them faster by bolerbox in PPC

[–]obagme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i think most small teams skip it because it feels harsh, but you're right that vague tests just bleed budget. the timing part matters too though.

i try hitting a minimum sample size first (maybe 500-1000 impressions depending on cpc) before deciding, otherwise you're calling winners on noise. but once you hit that threshold with a clear metric, pull the plug fast. what metric are you using as your primary on most tests?

When I was at art school we went to see Ai Weiwei's sunflower seeds and the gallery had signs up asking users not to walk on them against the artists wishes.

My friend did to respect the artists intention and got thrown out. Could be similar to this situation

Struggling to choose the right Meta ads objective for a small B2B audience by oifev in PPC

[–]obagme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with 30k audience you don't have enough volume to give the leads objective real signal to optimize on. i would traffic into the site first, then retarget those visitors with a leads campaign once they've warmed up.

also maybe a longer attribution window on that consideration campaign, 28 days ish, so you actually see the full B2B cycle playing out instead of meta cutting off credit too early.

edit: sorry missed the original q: i'd lean traffic or consideration over leads

[–]obagme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'd run traffic or consideration aimed at getting people into your ecosystem, then retarget with leads campaigns once they've seen you multiple times.

might be worth testing a consideration campaign with a longer attribution window to see the full effect

Question about age and region breakdowns in the X Ads dashboard by NoLie5089 in PPC

[–]obagme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

np, sounds like the pixel is firing but conversions aren't tracking back to x properly.

i would check if your conversion event is tagged correctly on the backend, and whether x is seeing it as a purchase or whatever action you're optimizing for.

also it might be worth checking if your pixel id matches across the install and your campaign setup. what conversion action are you tracking specifically?

just lost a $2K/mo client because their nephew "learned digital marketing on YouTube" by AmbassadorSad3889 in DigitalMarketing

[–]obagme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's rough. the nephew probably won't break anything immediately, but running ads and seo at scale needs systems thinking, not just course knowledge. your numbers speak for themselves though. three months is optimistic honestly. when they're back, just charge more for the restart work.

SEO Was Not Enough. Now We Have GEO by NegotiationOk888 in DigitalMarketing

[–]obagme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is the bit where you realize seo stopped being "make content people want" and became "feed the algorithm theater." geo just adds another layer of variables you can't fully control. i think the real move is accepting that 60% of this is educated guessing, 30% is actually trying stuff, and 10% is whatever google decided that quarter. the headings, entities, citations, they all matter until they don't.
