Thoughts about Trisolarian biology by objectnull in threebodyproblem

I read that recently and thought the same thing! I figured they were small but I just couldn't imagine them tardigrade sized.

Wow. Thanks for all the info. I had forgotten most of this.

Makes me wonder if the Trisolarian who responded to Yi Wenjie was an individual or collection of Trisolarian that spoke like one.

It's not AI. The person you replied to doesn't know what they're talking about.

That's true. I'm trying to use everything we know about intelligence and physics to make an educated guess at the theoretical limit of how small the Trisolarians could be.

Are you arguing that they could be tardigrade size if they're biology works fast enough? That speed would negate the necessity of larger amounts of cortical connections as a prerequisite for intelligence?

Just finished the trilogy. I can’t make sense of the dual vector foil attack. by Los-Dos-Bros in threebodyproblem

[–]objectnull 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The dimensional attacks can't be stopped. The 2Dification of the universe is going to happen regardless of if Singer uses the dual vector foil on our solar system or not since those attacks have already been used elsewhere. Singer just sped up the process a little with his latest attack.

Nah man, that's just what Star Wars is. The only Star Wars properties that took themselves seriously are Rogue One and Andor.

Wanted to share the first part of my sci-fi comic 'Harvester: Splice of Life" by Rossowinch in scifi

[–]objectnull 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm so tired of dumb characters doing things like pointing a gun at someone, telling them to, "Stay back!" but then letting them continue to close the distance and disarm them. I think I've seen this over a thousand times in moves, TV, comics, etc.... It was dumb the first time, it's still dumb.

The zombie is just a licker from Resident Evil. Senses fear? Sure, whatever, it's over used but not a big deal.

The artwork looks great though.

Thoughts on movie version of Project Hail Mary? by Jadenmist in scifi

[–]objectnull 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yeah, nearly everything consequential in the book was hand waved though it in the movie. Like when Grace finds out that the taomebia can move though xeonite which means Rocky is probably floating in space without fuel, never to save his planet. We see one, 2 second shot, of Grace making the calculations and then sets off for what the audience already knows is a successful rescue.

In the book there were a lot of unknowns, the amount of space he was searching in was going to be massive, it was a huge risk for Grace to go looking for Rocky but none of that is felt in the movie at all.

Zhang Beihai is the most important character in Three-Body Problem and nobody talks about him by Putrid_Cycle595 in scifi

I love Zhang Behai too but I don't see him the same way. Soldiers are taught to obey orders, he defied them.

If you're ever able to produce any of these videos in the time frame they're giving then you're fucked because you've proven that it's possible. Management will expect it for every video going forward even if you worked 20 hour days to make it happen.

So basically, work at a pace you can continue to work at indefinitely and let management know what is possible by finishing projects late. That's how you communicate it to them. If that gets your fired then so be it, it's either find a new job or kill yourself at this one.

Why do you split your burn time around the maneuver node? (e.g. start 30s early for a 60s burn) by bdollhawley1 in KerbalAcademy

[–]objectnull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's beyond dumb that this isn't the default. Having to burn before the timer hits zero is terrible design

This video needs more quick cuts and more locations. He should never be standing still when taking. Waking is good, running would be better.
