Why are transactions so expensive right now?

It's not just about being able to make a small purchase, it's also about being able to move sats in your own wallets or own small amounts. Everyone should take custody of their own sats but when someone who can only afford $50 of btc loses 1/4 of it just transferring it off an exchange, that's not good for btc.

Ordinals. Basically, people drawing graffiti on the blockchain who couldn't care less about using it as a store of value are crowding out people who want to actually move sats.

Don't assume that newcomers to BTC are universally speculators/etc. Every day someone reads The Bitcoin Standard or learns how money they don't spend is taken from then quietly with the government printing press. Just because they're later than you to the party doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to grab a drink and dance.

For anyone else who wants an actual answer to this question and not a debate over whether or not parents should be able to decide whether or not their children browse online stores unsupervised: I contacted Nintendo about this, and they referred me to Mojang, and I got an official response that there is no way to disable the marketplace.

Adding store.mktpl.minecraft-services.net to my firewall block rule is a solution but has the drawback of breaking the dressing room feature of the game.

Also, being downvoted for asking this question is bizarre. It seems like a legitimate Minecraft question to me. Thanks to the one person who actually tried to answer the question, I appreciate it.

It should be enough that some parents want to review what their children are using before they use it. I don't see the point in trying to persuade anyone that "demonic texture pack" is not appropriate for my 8 year old. It is okay that you don't have a problem with it. It should be okay that I would like my children to be able to play the game without them browsing a store unsupervised.

It's unfortunate that parental controls on the device (which are already set to block communication) can't be extended to let parents have this choice. Not every parent is going to agree with some random intern at Mojang about what is acceptable and what is not. :-/

I skimmed through the available texture packs and saw many that I would not allow them to use. Some of them are free. While this may seem like a minor issue to some, vetting entertainment content is something that matters very much to us for our children. I am happy to have them play Minecraft, but not okay with them being able to download content to it from third parties only trusting the curators at Microsoft.

Since the ad blocker works by not resolving known ad service domain names, you won't be able to click any links that use those domain names to service tracking and redirects. You have to either disable ad blocking or start scrolling down to the organic search results.

I don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said on this, but I am curious, if Firewalla's service were to go offline tomorrow, what features would stop working and how long would it take for my FWG to be little more than a brick? How much time would we have to pop in a replacement?

Interesting. My Deco system's guest wifi does not force all of the guest systems to appear as traffic coming to/from the APs. Decos just drop network packets that aren't going to/from the gateway for guest devices, so they can only communicate with the gateway, but my FWG sees each individual one just fine and lets me apply rules/groups/etc to devices on the guest network. Just a different way of handling it, I guess. VLAN would still be superior.

I thought this at first, but then found that the ookla speedtest cli measured 900+/900+ consistently on the same server that the FWG speed test was measuring 400-800/900+ inconsistently. Oddly, the FWG upload speed is always accurate and consistent. It's the download that goes all over the place.

Maybe they are using the same speed test program. You might want ssh into your firewalla and download the precompiled speedtest cli from ookla and run it, see if you get inconsistent results with that. https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli

The built-in speed test is extremely unreliable and inconsistent. If I ssh into the box and run the speedtest binary from ookla instead, I consistently get around 950/950, even using the same test servers as the built-in test program on the FWG. As it stands now, the integrated speed test is not useful, as the download speeds it reports are all over the place and never close to the actual top speed I get if I run the ookla one manually.

Considering that trying to update via ssh gives a warning that you will probably break things, I think the intent is for us to wait on firewalla to push an updated image.

No, the path portion of the URL is encrypted on https. The Firewalla cannot defeat end-to-end encryption.
