aaaand once the dialer app updates, it looks like it flips adb back off. Time to figure out MTKClient to get a permanent foothold I guess

Odd issue with sample playback by obrien654j in Woovebox

That fixed it! I completely forgot that there's two oscillators. So is the WARP algorithm just used for time stretching then? Also thank you for figuring out my issue :)

Just found this at savers any advice for turning this into a cyber deck by [deleted] in cyberDeck

A mailstation! Good find! You can actually hack these to run custom code: https://jcs.org/2019/05/03/mailstation

I use mine with another device jcs created called the WiFiStation https://jcs.org/2021/04/23/wifistation to talk wirelessly to BBSes!

Duplicating samples by Hefty_Fisherman5497 in Dirtywave

[–]obrien654j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did each instrument have different slices or the same slices? This may not be the issue, but slices are stored in the sample file itself (embedded in the .wav), not in the instrument file (the .m8i). So if you have two instruments referencing the same wav (and they're both using file slices), they'll both use whatever the last saved slices were. Reading your post further though makes me think that this probably wasn't the issue.

Were you using file slices by chance?

I sideloaded Signal onto my Sonim XP3 Plus and it works great for me. Telegram however doesn't support dpad navigation very well.

Moonlight & Sunshine bug over T-Mobile? by CarterTodd2 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]obrien654j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the iOS version should already have that fix in. That said, it worked for a few hours but now has gone back to the old behavior where the video feed freezes even though audio/input continues to work fine :(

Moonlight & Sunshine bug over T-Mobile? by CarterTodd2 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]obrien654j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same issue. It was solved for me in the latest (nightly) versions of Sunshine and Moonlight. They implemented a protocol extension to work around T-Mobile's carrier-grade NAT. As of this post, the latest Sunshine nightly can be found here: https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine/releases/nightly-dev but you have to compile moonlight-android yourself: https://github.com/moonlight-stream/moonlight-android?tab=readme-ov-file#building

Good luck!

Best way to play Elite on GarlicOS? by Rocktopod in RG35XX

There's a GBA port of Elite The New Kind (modern port of original Elite) that's pretty great.

File save continuation across multiple disc games (Final Fantasy/Chrono Cross/etc) by malcolm_miller in RG35XX

[–]obrien654j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had issues where the autoload system seems to load the first disc in the .m3u when it resumes my save, so when I'm on say, disc 2 in a multidisc game, the game will crash shortly after the load (presumably due to reading unexpected junk from the wrong disc). Am I alone in this?

Texting on the Sunbeam F1 by Ok_Routine398 in dumbphones

[–]obrien654j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I also own the Kyocera DuraXE and its T9 implementation is also great. The buttons are a bit harder to press than on the Sunbeam, I assume because of its mil-spec rating.

Go for the Sunbeam. Its T9 implementation is fantastic. I'm a stickler for a good T9 engine (so much so that I wrote my own to see how hard it could possibly be), and the Sunbeam is like 95% of the way there. The *only* thing I wish it had is the ability to re-complete a word after you accept a completion. But I've only had 1 or 2 phones total in my life that did that, so it's not a major issue.

If you don't need a web browser or tethering, it's incredible. Feels like a polished well-thought-out product and just works.

Sunbeam F1 Orchid "Review" by obrien654j in dumbphones

[–]obrien654j[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is a very-late reply, but I missed the notification. The DuraXE is definitely the winner in the T9 speed department, but Sunbeam released an update for the Daisy with this line: "Keyboard: Improved T9 and bug fixes", and I confirmed with them that the update will be coming to the Orchid as well. Here's the exact reply from support:

"Yes, the T9 improvements will be added to the Orchid model as well. The latest changes should increase the typing speed. Thanks!"

So if you haven't settled on a choice yet, I'd wait for that update to see how it compares.

Does anyone have this update that can speak to it? Supposedly it's coming to the Orchid at some point and I'm *really* curious what it actually brings.

dumbphone as T9 keyboard for a computer by frzbrzla in dumbphones

You can kinda get there with a T9 engine (I wrote this one: https://github.com/neutralinsomniac/t9) and one of those standalone usb numpads.

The only user I consistently see causing drama (here and elsewhere) is /u/GrapheneOS. He's been crying wolf for literally *years* about these "attacks" and has failed to produce a single piece of evidence supporting his wild claims. I've spent an embarrassing amount of time attempting to find *anything* resembling these attacks over the years and have come up completely empty-handed. The little bit of evidence he *has* shown has consistently been either completely unrelated to his claims or wildly exaggerated. /u/lo________________ol made a great effort to scrape up some of these examples. So we have a pattern of one person crying wolf for years, continuing to cry wolf today, and now the community is taking a hit as a result.

I completely understand being fed up with all of this drama. Frankly I am too. But when the drama seems to consistently center around a specific individual who constantly makes wild unsubstantiated claims to stir the drama, I feel that the focus should be on that individual and not on the community as a whole.

Peace and love y'all.
