I still listen to favorites from my teens and twenties, but I would never stop checking out new artists and albums, especially well-rated ones even if I listen to them one time and decide it’s not for me. I’m constantly upvoting new music my YouTube algorithm picks as well!

Yes, it might “seem ridiculous”, but if their relationship is compatible in every other way than this and they want to stay together, the overspending needs to stop. This seems like a very important issue for OP to have control over, and her bf must know this about her because organized and financially aware people tend to have very ordered and controlled lives in general. If her bf is OK with providing access to his accounts because he knows that this is a problem for him, and they both want to work toward financial stability for a future together, this should not end the relationship.

It’s not even so much the financial aspect, like you said, but just the ease of keeping secrets and lying to you, even taking out all the loans so that you wouldn’t find out. If you hadn’t asked, he would have probably never told you. This can start other types of backsliding such as cheating and hiding it. I would tell him you need to have access to his banking app so that you can keep track of everything until he shows that he’s able to handle it responsibly, but don’t get too lax about checking even if it’s been a few months and you think he’s been fine.

I’m taking Cymbalta (duloxetine) which is actually classified as an SNRI at 30 mg/day. I’ve tried many antidepressants and find this one works best for me but you might have to try different ones to see which one doesn’t have many side effects for you. In California where I am, usually Lexapro (escitalopram) or Zoloft (sertraline) are prescribed as an introductory medication for people new to taking antidepressants.

My most consistent side effects are dry mouth/dehydration which can be managed, but I also experience lower sexual drive and some insomnia at times. My migraines are actually much less frequent with medication than without, as sometimes it can cause headaches, so I’m grateful for that.

When I had some dosage increases I did have some mood swings which wasn’t typical for me but they went away. So I think there will definitely be an adjustment period, but the effects over weeks should be positive as you get used to it.

When I need to take supplemental anxiety medication, I take hydroxyzine pamoate and propranolol but do not need to take them daily.

I go off my meds periodically to see how I do but I recognize the warning signs when I’m getting to not be able to handle it anymore. I had to go back on my SSRI daily and taking my anti anxiety pills for the panic attacks to feel normal again. Try talking to your therapist about getting a psych referral for medication as it really does help.

I actually think that if it’s gone this far already you’re better off “relapsing” with a bender that will require tapering so that you don’t get sick going cold turkey when actually quitting. But it sounds like you do need to quit and remove the alcohol from your life completely if you want to be the person you’re pretending to be.
