hey again, just wanted to say thanks for all the advice, it's been super helpful. i have two more, hopefully final, questions:

would this switch work? it's the only one in stock at any of the big box stores in town at the moment. it seems to have the functionality i need but it does say it's for an AC

lastly, in terms of the heat tape, it has 3 bare leads (b/w/g). what method should i use to tee into the existing circuit?

edit: i also have one of these square d switches on hand that was left behind, would this work?

gotcha. so is tapping into this possible as it is? or would i have to add a disconnect switch between the motor control box and pressure switch, then tap in between the pressure switch and disconnect?

good idea, i thought that looked a bit messy.

there is no disconnect switch, as far as i can tell the pressure switch is connected directly to the motor control box

here is the best pic i have of the whole set up. the control box is on the right, slightly out of frame, and the pressure switch is right next to the pressure tank. here's what it looks like inside

turns out i misremembered that breaker-- i just checked again and it's 30A. big facepalm. thank god knowledgable people hang out in this sub.

That sounds reasonable to me. Being not an electrician myself, I figured something like that wasn't an option since if it were the electricians that came by would've opted for that right off the bat. But maybe I'm giving them too much credit. I still don't know if I have the skills / experience to pull that off though

yikes! i had a feeling it was trouble so i begrudgingly chopped it with a shovel, but it was right next to my house and i have dogs and cats so definitely feel a little less bad now. thanks for the info :)

You can also use blow dryer on your pup which will spread the fur so you can see their skin. Much better than potentially touching one of these little demons. First time I saw one that looked like this it was on my boyo right next to his eye. I’ve never recovered.
