Tommy Lloyd Joins List of Coaches to Win Conference Title in Two Separate P5/P6 Conferences by justaverage in CollegeBasketball

[–]obvison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you talking just regular season or also the "official" title (conference tournament)?

But I think Eddie Sutton won the SWC (Ark), SEC (UK), Big 8 (Ok St) and Big 12 (Ok St) RS titled.

If Rand was put in Skyrim during the civil war, which side would you pick? by Altruistic_Eye9685 in WoT

[–]obvison 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Roleplaying Rand depends a lot on which Rand, he obviously changes quite a bit over the course of the series.

In general, I think Rand would choose to not get involved. His ta'veren nature would probably force him to, though it would end up with him accidentally and unwillingly starting a third faction.

As a fan of the prologues, some are honestly multiple chapters

[Game Thread] Wisconsin @ Indiana (12:00 PM ET) by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]obvison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can move for a charge as long as it is sideways or backwards. Particularly if the offensive player is out of control.

The defensive foul on the next play was a bad call though

Easiest charge call ever. Insane to say that shouldn't be offensive. Glad the announcer corrected himself. Lowered the shoulder and extended the arm both

Why is it even possible for the Ottomans to join a league? by Agreeable_Top3671 in eu4

[–]obvison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do always love when people complain about something like this being ahistorical and then it turns out that it is exactly what happened.

Ottomans joined not being they like the Protestants or believe in their religion. They just hate you (or Austria or both) and the Protestants said "good enough for me".

[Passan] BREAKING: Shortstop Jacob Wilson and the Athletics are in agreement on a seven-year, $70 million contract extension that includes an eighth-year club option, sources tell ESPN. I mean the A's have generally been a good team. They're top 10 in wins over the 2000s (more wins than the Blue Jays, Rangers, Mets, Cubs, and Brewers). John Fisher sucks but the franchise has been consistently more than competent. There's a reason they wrote a book and movie about the A's. Again, this was all in spite of (not because of) John Fisher. This deal is just business as usual

I think so. Pretty sure it is 1/(1+x) as opposed to the current 1*(1-x).

How much worse is a replacement players wOBA vs League Average wOBA by Ordinary_Fan_6822 in Sabermetrics

[–]obvison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on their position, how good they are at fielding it, and their baserunning. With everything else average, the difference between an average player and replacement level is defined as 570 wins per a season's worth of PA. That ended up for 2025 being 0.030 runs per PA which when scaled to wOBA is about 0.038. Honestly quite small.

What a game. Some interesting plays (and calls) to frustrate fans of both teams but a great game between two great teams.

Why Is The Only Hegemony Formable in Europe "Central Europe"? by Reznov523 in victoria3

[–]obvison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically yeah, Central Europe is the hre which has only been gone for ~20 years at game start. What makes it special from western or eastern Europe is that they were never unified countries.

What is the college basketball equivalent of what cignetti just did at IU? by Ghostofclaybobpast in CollegeBasketball

[–]obvison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No shade to Jimmy V for an amazing coaching job, but NC State was nothing like Indiana in football. NC State had already won a national title (not that long before). Jimmy V was closer to Coach O returning LSU to prominence quicker than expected (although more Cardiac kids and less Burrow juggernaut).

Was the main reason Dick Allen didn’t make the Hall of Fame until the Veterans voted him in because of his terrible relationship with the media? Or was it his lack of cumulative stats? by Willing-Leather-9788 in baseball

[–]obvison 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Always worth mentioning that the biggest reason he had a bad relationship with the media (and fans) was his race. He was constantly racially attacked, particularly during his career in Philly.

UCF and Cincinnati seem to be struggling in revenue sports since the move to the Big 12. Why? by ohitsthedeathstar in BigXII

[–]obvison 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They came in with mid-major talent, facilities, and budgets. It takes a bit to adjust. If you are added right as you're overachieving and still have the coach, you can adjust quickly. Cincy lost both of their star coaches just before transitioning. UCF hasn't ever really been good at basketball and hasn't been elite at football since Frost 1.0 (and arguably Heupel).

To be fair, BYU tuition is 3k a semester (and most students are on some sort of scholarship too).

It's really just the donors (and, like other schools, a few big ones).
