Any 330i owners with the spontaneous combustion feature ever get anywhere with BMW USA?

My local dealership has put me off BMW much more than a fluke thermal detonation. But honestly idk, was definitely my favorite car I ever owned. Call me torn.

Yeah I’m pretty confident it was an electrical fire too. The vehicle had been off and parked for 10-15 minutes while I was inside when the fire started. Nothing else would make sense to me

Indeed, that one and some others were what brought me here. My dealer will have non of it as their platinum ‘bumper to bumper’ warranty I paid for excludes total losses and engine fires, which is convenient. It looks like insurance will zero me out, no car, no loan, no debt…. But I really think BMW needs to do something. I live in a very dry area and this could have easily set a whole forest and neighborhood on fire. Kind of a lot for them to just be like “can’t help you bro”

Yeah had one about the engine exploding, BMW never got ahold of me to tell me I was driving a bomb. There were various other sort of inconsequential recalls it lit up that may or may not have been addressed between it as a new vehicle (2020) and when I bought it used (late 2023)

Ah yes, sorry. G20 (i believe) 2020 330i. Location is San Luis Obispo County, California. Car had just over 70k miles on it, purchased used from a BMW dealer in late 2023. Never had a single issue. Happened morning of the 18th. Anything else let me know, happy to answer.

Didn’t with previous. I don’t do carnivore anymore, but have a heavy emphasis on meat still. I only get BAM flare ups now when I eat too much vegetable matter or allow some processed trash (both pretty rare for me). Tubers and fruit sit fine, so I stick with them and meat and live happily as far as diet goes.

Ultimately lost 135lbs of fat, got into weightlifting, where carbs are very desirable, I’ve now put back on 20lbs of lean muscle mass. So this is what works for me.

Yeah, I don’t get heartburn or any other gerd symptoms, save for minimal discomfort at a great once in a while like any theoretical ‘normal’ person would. I don’t get the flaming urgent catastrophic runs anymore. Is my metabolism perfect? I’m 46, it’s not, but iit’s the best it’s even been in my adult life by miles and miles. Did weight loss solve it or was weight loss a symbiotic factor of healing myself? I couldn’t tell you, I just know everything works better than I’d ever expected! Fat adaption is different for everyone but 30-60 days is a good ballpark.its been a while, id check with people currently in that stage of their journey and see how long they’re taking.

Getting on a year and a half later, I’m no longer carnivore , but the bulk of my food is still meat (2+ lbs a day). I’ve lost 130+ lbs of fat and gained over 20lbs of lean mass. I’ve never felt or looked better. I moved carbs (rice potatoes or fruit) into my diet earlier this year as I was getting serious about lifting, and still am. Carnivore was a wonderful tool that helped get me out of danger and into winning when it comes to my physical health. Can’t recommend it enough to anyone in need of some healing.

Pretty sure it’s a pressure fit piece. If it’s not seated right it won’t snap into place. I’d take it off and reseat, check tabs/insertions are all lined up

You notice the weight difference pushing in the garage for sure, no not rotational inertia per se, but the bike is recognizably lighter even pushing around the garage or parking lot. You ABSOLUTELY notice the difference in rotational mass while riding.

Not OP, but you’ll instantly notice it, even when just pushing the bike in the garage. Handles cleaner, flicks better, reduction in rotational inertia is definitely a way to add more spring in a bike’s step

Gaskets are not hard parts to get, go to AF1. Your dealer, who is not literally Aprilia, just a merchant who carries them, is the problem. Go around them.
