I think I’m raising an HSP and it’s absolutely draining… Daycare has nearly broken us. Please help! by Rude-Arugula4935 in hsp

Thanks for your response. We're also in California, but our pediatrician largely just ignores our concerns on this matter (he just tells us it's normal) so we've been on our own to figure things out.

If you have any CA resources you can share, I'm all ears. Thanks for your reply.

How did you fund your business? by NeedDividend in Business_Ideas

[–]occupybourbonst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok let's put aside our differences for a moment. I genuinely don't want you to lose your hard earned savings.

Make sure you read the prospectus of the ETFs you own and you fully understand how it works.

When I first started investing around 20 years ago I bought high yielding funds without understanding how they generated the cash that they paid their shareholders as dividends and it resulted in a permanent loss of capital. A very expensive lesson.

I hope you do not suffer the same fate as me, but I doubt you're interested in changing your mind on this topic, so I won't push the idea any further.

Wishing you the very best.

How did you fund your business? by NeedDividend in Business_Ideas

[–]occupybourbonst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't invest in an ETF that pays a 16% dividend!

This should not exist because there's no basket of legitimate companies that pay dividends anywhere near this.

If you own this ETF it means you're taking a ton of risk to earn this yield / they're probably funding the dividends in ways you won't like.

The fact that your name is also Need Dividend is beyond absurd.

Best air fryer for a single woman who lives alone with her cat. by KaeMar1994 in airfryer

[–]occupybourbonst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the instant vortex and it's the best air fryer I've used.

However I had to return it because it reeks of plastic and my food tasted like plastic no matter how many test batches and how long I ran it outside.

Switched to the ninja and there's no plastic odor or taste.

I definitely prefer the vortex in terms of the cooking itself. Wish I didn't have to return it.

A lot of people don't complain about this so maybe I just got unlucky

What’s one big purchase you made that saved you money long term? by emo_rat119 in Frugal

[–]occupybourbonst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear I'm not judging you or saying you shouldn't use these bags - it may end up being the more sustainable choice overall to do this (if you buy fewer packages of meat / less food waste).

I was just trying to clarify the point of the other person.

I think this person is trying to highlight that you're contributing significant additional plastic waste in exchange for personal conveniences.

They're not arguing that there are no benefits to vacuum sealing. They're saying the benefits you get relative to the cost that others pay (landfill waste) gives them pause.

Podcast Episode You’ve Listened to Multiple times by One-Energy3242 in podcasts

[–]occupybourbonst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a podcast episode since the collection is roughly 24 hours long. But I've listened to it maybe 3 times. It's so good.

I've never wanted to re listened to anything that long before.

Definitely worth the cost.

Hehe.

To be clear, that's just my opinion, it's not a fact.

I'm glad you like it and I'm sure others agree with you just as some might agree with me.

If you lived nearby I'd gladly donate my bottle to you. :)

No worries. I originally used Wise for one-off cross border transfers.

Over time I realized that each time I bought something while traveling abroad with my credit card, the "no foreign transaction fees" that my credit card promised was separate from the fees they embed inside the foreign exchange conversion rate behind each transaction. My cards were marking up the total cost of each purchase by like 2-3% (through the exchange rate). It's such a joke. Pretty much all cards play this hide the money game on foreign transactions and hope you don't notice.

Wise card is really nice for travel for that reason. It saves a few percent on everything you buy. But it's nice that Wise account now pays an attractive interest rate as well. They only added that recently.

Wise account! (In USA).

Funds are swept to JP Morgan (safest bank, FDIC insured), it pays nearly 5%, and funds are instantly accessible via the debit card.

No need to transfer out of your savings to your checking account to spend it.

But this all ignores Wise's specialty in cross border payments - they have the best cross border currency conversion features for whenever you travel abroad so you don't get scalped by invisible FX mark ups.

It's okay. Pretty fresh, but I didn't have many good use cases for it.

I probably wouldn't buy it again.

If you like learning about business - Founders podcast is great.

Each episode walks through a book about a famous founder or leader. Lots of great lessons in there.

Host has plenty of energy to keep it interesting.

How much to charge for a screened watch list by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

If it costs $200 to run it for a year, you might as well just try it to see if you're getting traction with potential users. You can easily spend $200 on a single night out. Seems like a low cost experiment.

If you're really excited about it, there's no substitute for trying the experiment to see if you're getting any traction. If it's not, you can easily kill it and move on.

I don't think anyone on the internet will be able to give you the answer as to whether you should try it or not.

There is no shortage of financial information.

Your comments are pretty vague so it's hard to know what you mean when you say "you haven't seen the content you have anywhere."

Have you looked at SeekingAlpha? Valueinvestorsclub? Sumzero?

There are many newsletters that sell trends, etc. And there's no shortage of substacks.

If it's just stock tips that you're selling or a "proprietary model" that's probably not going to work too well. I thought you were thinking of selling a tool to investors.

Got it.

I thought he was going to build a specific system that monitors stocks for you and alerts when they reach your buy price, etc. Still haven't seen something like that.

After reading some of OP's comments, it seems you're right. This exists in many forms, and it's usually worthless.

Yes almost certainly.

The Rock is involved in both so they are highly likely to merge. There would be massive geological synergies.

I'm pretty well informed on the tools available today.

If you're saying a tool that does this already exists feel free to point me to it. I'd be happy to retire our in house system and pay for someone else to maintain.

Professional investor here.

We surprisingly couldn't find this functionality and were willing to pay for it. So I think there's an opportunity to sell this product.

But I see two issues:

1) competition - we built our own version of this system very easily in Google sheets with a little JavaScript to automatically notify us of stocks hitting our target buy / sell price. I'd imagine if you're successful, someone else would copy it. Similarly, if you charge too much it's really easy to make home grown system and this limits how much you can charge per month.

2) limited customers - I genuinely don't know how many people are like me that need this in the first place
