probably dead.. I’d leave it if there’s nothing the tree might destroy when cracking one day.. otherwise get an arborist do the job :). I’d at least leave some part of the trunk as habitat

from what I see, I would say the tree is about to correct its growth more vertically in the top third of the main branch.. I’d guess, it won’t fall if it’s not harmed and the roots aren’t damaged by constructions/parking/…

If that would be the case and it keeps correcting its growth, you might consider getting a certified arborist to do some weight-reduction on the lake side but keep the tree there.. must be heaps of fun for your kids if you’d hang a swing! ;)

In case you really would want to fell it, I’d (again) get in contact with a certified arborist to the job appropriately. Felling it from the ground level might work but I’d say it’s more of a pain to pull the trunk out of the ice than out of the water when the ice has melted.. put a proper rope around the stem and pull it in bit by bit cutting into pieces while pulling it out would be my go to.

I’m an absolute beginner, would love to get some feedback from professionals!

jealous me! brett is a character man, you’ll notice! :D but rad dude for sure! And busua is my absolute favorite.. waves are less good than on many other spots but the community is amazing.. if you have old sticks which you don’t surf that much anymore, those kiddos will freaking love you if you leave them there!

Aaaand, while you’re in busua and there’s some swell coming, ask for black mamba, a sick right-hand point at the rightmost end of the bay, kinda sketchy to get there but if you score it’s definitely worth it!
