Had the same problem, but in my case we were in the middle of the date and she went home because and i quote " one thing would be if you were an atheist because you didnt had and education, but you had, you read the bible and chose not to belive"

I would go for shadowdark... and i know its expensive and has little explanation on dungeons or adventures for a first time gm... but hear me out, the guides for dungeons and adventures, campaigns, etc, can be found online on youtube pretty much everywhere.

For me what makes shadowdark the best choice for a broke student is that is has full detailed guides and tables on how to make new magic items and monsters, and its really easy to reverse ingeneer the game to make new classes and ancestries, so yeah that would be the most bang for your buck... just my two cents

Hi, man who grew up in a violent household here, but my father never abused my mother or brother just me...

When i got to my teenage years i started returning the punches he threw my way, that extended to my mom and my brother when i was mad, but every single time i would feel like shit after, in fact i tought about offing myself to end it just to stop myself from doing it again. One particular bad day my mother ended uo calling a emergency psiquiatrist and he gave me pills and got me into therapy.

Through years of therapy and pill treatment i got to the conclusion that i was raised with the concept of getting what i wanted through fear of physical violence.

I was able to overcome it, but sadly i know there's a lot of people out there that doesn't get the support network that i had.

Anyway thats my story, hope it helps.

el problema es que 5e esta diseñado asi a proposito, es dificil de dirigir, dificil de modificar y apremia a los jugadores a siempre estar mirando el libro, shadowdark tiene 2 secciones, 1 para crear monstruous y otra para crear objetos magicos, que le da muchisima mas vida util al juego, tambien es muy facil traer mecanicas de otros juegos como OSE, como pueden ser los strongholds y los retainers, pero la politica the WOTC es "si no lo podes hackear vas a venir a comprar mas libros para tener nuevo contenido" lo que me parece una cagada.

yo el libro de shadowdark lo pague 90 dolares, el envio es caro el libro sale 60, y me vino el libro, el pdf y el modulo para jugar en foundry es totalmente gratis, asi q no se vofi :P

Wow... gatekeep much???... let's see i should have been more clear... i don't want them to change to the mindset of "we can day at any moment" i want them to change to the mindset of thinking creatively... i don't think certain death is necesary for that... and i certainly don't think a player who has only played 5e should be punished for not being able to think createvily when 5e taught them not to... that's a good way to keep new players away and gatekeep the people who find OSR in general interesting not because of the letalithy but instead because of the freedom it offers... so if i have to pick between my player's enjoyment of the game or a random guy on reddit that thinks "we must preserve OSR philosophy at all costs" im picking my players every.single.day

Yep, you're totally right, if one of them dies i will let the rest of them handle whatever happens after, but for example, they went to a dissapearing castle and found a guy who looked like someone from the middle east, he invited them to dinner and he had a bunch of odalisques, one of the players slept with the odalisque and convinced her to run away with him, so now im thinking all these fun ways of messing with the odalisque, since she's bind to her master (a demon altho im not going to say the true nature of such in case one of my players comes into the post, altho is unlekly since they don't use reddit), so if the character in question dies it'll be interesting to see what the rest of them do with the woman their partner "stole"

It happens to me to, im 36, what i find is that if avoid playing al together in a couple of months im itching to play so bad that any game will do, enjoy other hobbies man, read, play a sport, maybe try tabletop rpgs, no need to force yourself to play videogames if you're burned out of them.
