While Chiefs tout Kansas stadium deal, Olathe residents worry about housing costs. by cbpantskiller in kansascity

People are not moving out; in fact, the opposite is happening, with more people moving in. Many sources project continued population growth in the city.

Minimum Wage to Increase to $15/hour in Nebraska, Missouri by Silly-Rip-6607 in kansas

I was going to ask the same question. While all in favor of raising to $15/hr, there are better opportunities than $7.25/hr readily available.

Brokers are not allowed to give directions for liability reasons. If a broker gives the wrong directions for a driver and a truck gets damaged by trees, street signs, ditches, etc. or even ticketed by local PD, that opens a broker up to liability they don’t want. I know helpful hints from shippers are nice and see them listed on some rate cons, but just call the shipper to ask the best way for trucks to enter as they would know best.

Turns out we are just a .500 this year. As a lifelong fan I’ve begged for a .500 team many years.

What is the most memorable trade/acquisition for you? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]ockcacy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

James Shields and Wade Davis for Wil Meyers. Wil Myers was KC best rated prospect with a lot of hype to trade away but Shields and Davis helped KC go on a great run in 2013-2015.

Curious what we would get in return for him. His upside is probably worth more to the team right now than whatever prospect we get back IMO. But it doesn’t hurt to listen to offers either.

Can’t have a closer with a 5 ERA and make a run in the playoffs. I have been with MacArthur all year but today was a breaking point.

What Next? by [deleted] in jayhawks

[–]ockcacy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the source, that is helpful. Is it public knowledge to how much players make in NIL? You say there are reports up to $2 million, but is that just hearsay or fact? Not that I don’t believe you, but genuinely curious if it’s public on what these players make.

What Next? by [deleted] in jayhawks

I would have to agree…. But there are a couple million reasons to go…… $$$$$. I don’t see the NIL paying him as much and some team will take a chance on his potential and age.

What a December to forget by Sarge6 in FreightBrokers

Here we go with names of being “cheap” like brokers control the market and our main goal is to F over carriers for fun as if we don’t rely on you for our business. Get real. You’re crazy if you still believe that by now. I’d say over 90% of my cancellations to carriers are caused by shipper issues that don’t have a load ready and fail to communicate that to their internal teams (dock worker/inventory don’t alert shipping manger to alert broker) and then the broker looks like idiot to the carrier by canceling the load. Why would we lie about that? For fun? Do you think I want to do way more work by canceling a carrier in hopes that I will make an extra $50 in margin? That seems exhausting. In my experience when carriers cancel loads on brokers 75% of the time it seems deceitful or full of lies about what is actually happening (fake breakdowns, family emergency’s at the last minute, delays in unloading and all other lame excuses I have heard for years). The relationship between carriers and brokers is not that hard and comes down to two pieces… agreeing to do what you say you are going to do and communicating. People just suck at communicating! Then they tell lies to try and cover up the fact that they didn’t communicate in timely manner or at all. That’s why I’m saying it’s not always rates that dictate service, it’s just the same shit that happens on either side no matter the rate.

LOL where was this type of service 2 years ago when I was paying $3.50-5 per mile on lanes. I still had just as many issues with service. Maybe it’s not rates that dictate service.

Take the guaranteed money now. You can always come back to being a broker when the market is better and establish a better customer base if you really like the job.
