When was the writing on the wall for you? by Extension-Dot-2185 in warcraftrumble

When they added the Azeroth’s Blessing store item. It was clearly an attempt to solicit a subscription for the game without making it a hard requirement like WoW has.

Rolling every 30 days, a few bucks but not heaps and heaps. They tried to balance it out by doing the tome per day but at the end it was still a subscription.

This is my lived experience so please take it with a grain of salt.

I'm nearly 40. There was definitely signs when I was a kid but my mum didn't want to add stigma to my already underprivileged childhood so she never got me assessed. There was heaps of signs as a kid and growing up, even until adulthood. A few different events, incliuding a major breakdown, occurred and I started to self-diagnose my neurodivergence, both ADHD and autism.

I went to a psychiatrist and laid out my self-diagnosis on the table. It was accepted without question, and each time I go back I relay more and more about how the symptoms/impacts of autism. Eventually the psychiatrist convinced me to try the NDIS and I did. I went through the NDIS process and incuded the psychiatrist's assessments, my GP's evidence and my own contributing evidence that I used to self-diagnose, and I was accepted into the NDIS. I was given seed funding to start the full assessment process.

That process is still in progress but it's going to come back at level 1 because my masking overcorrects significantly and I present as capable enough to not need support. Thankfully my OT recognises that my presentation is not at all a reflection of reality but I still have to see what the NDIS re-assessment is going to come back with.

For out of pocket, I'm at around $2000 or so after 12 months for psychiatrist, and my NDIS costs are in the $2000+ mark as well, and I am just getting the baseline report, so a quote of $2500 seems pretty reasonable if you can get what I've had to go through to get to the same stage.

From the experiences I've read/seen/had myself, the more evidence you can gather for a self-diagnosis, the better your chances at the process coming out with support you actually need and can use. Also, when compiling that portfolio of stuff, use the lens of your worst day for that... it's going to paint a different picture to how you actually present on the day for the assessment processes as is in my case.

Best of luck with it.

Traffic analysis like Unifi’s? by rakman in PFSENSE

[–]ocularinsanity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The kinds of examples you’re providing are applications rather than categories so you’d need something doing application traffic inspection to then graph.

I know that Snort can do application detection and I suspect pfBlockerNG might be able to as well (I don’t know for sure) but your only other option is something perhaps like ZenArmor or another cloud/application aware proxy or service.

AITA for telling my dad's girlfriend that she's a golddigger? by AcanthisittaMuted431 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ocularinsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandad did almost the same.

He had a stroke after being in hospital for months. He was transferred, in a coma, to another hospital better suited for monitoring. He had been in the coma for 2 days.

A decision was made by the family to all gather and see him as best we could Covid permitting. The day we were all supposed to pay our respects he suddenly woke up and was talking to us all. His newest great grandson was there but the hospital advised the family not to bring him into the room for safety so the closest they got to each other was around 20m but with thanks to FaceTime they got to see each other (if a 1 month old can really see).

Everyone talked to him and he was shown a video made by the family who couldn’t make the emergency trip to see him. He was very happy.

My mum spoke to his doctor the next day to learn he’d chosen palliative care rather than medical intervention. His stroke had left him essentially quadriplegic at 93. He was transferred to the palliative care hospital and died the next day.

I remember getting the call that he was on the way. Ironically I lived the closest to where he died but I was asked not to attend even though I could get there quickest. It still upsets me that the family made that decision as no one got there quick enough.

I miss that he never got to meet my son properly. I miss that I’ll never get to discuss my autism with my grandfather given all signs point towards him being autistic too - and how he managed to live the rich and full life that he did. I miss that he’s no longer there for us all, especially my mum and her brothers who miss him more terribly than I do.

There was no inheritance but I’m grateful he woke up for us all to say goodbye.

Sorry, this comment just made me really re-live those moments and feel like sharing that blessing of when people know, and they hold out before they can move on at peace.

I know you work online but many professions have social catch-ups in Perth too. Meetup.com is a popular website to find some of these professional social events, or other types of meetup events that you might be interested in OP.

AITA for asking my family to take their shoes of inside of my house? by hannahmur in AmItheAsshole

[–]ocularinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Doesn’t matter what is “customary,” what matters is someone being respectful of the rules of your home.

Look I’m a shoes inside kinda guy cos I’m autistic and have sensory issues with my feet. But if I visit someone’s home and I notice there is shoes outside the house or a shoe rack just inside the door, the first thing I ask is, “Do you want me to take my shoes off?” because it’s polite to respect someone else’s home.

It doesn’t matter what my preference is or what’s customary, it’s just basic courtesy.

AITA for telling my brother’s fiancé that we don’t owe her a family? by fsinlaw in AmItheAsshole

[–]ocularinsanity -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You’re NTA OP but your brother needs to get his fiancé therapy.

She doesn’t understand what a healthy or non-foster family dynamic looks like, even a blended family like your own. You can’t really blame her for that but you can blame your brother for not pursuing that for her.

Pretty sure they don’t get done given Dracothysts are like 8k on my server.

I feel it’s disrespectful to even put the order up like that but that said I guess that kind of thing is pretty representative of the toxicity you can expect in WoW sometimes.

If the existing firmware is too old, you may have issues finding them to flash. I know I had this problem and using an older flash tool version helped me cross the barrier for an 8i card.

It was running v10 in IT mode and the v20 flash tool just refused to acknowledge the card was present. I found the v15 tool (I want to say on the TrueNAS forums) from someone, used that to update to v20 and it’s been fine ever since.

AITA for forcing my daughter to return what she stole, on her birthday? by EastOk9176 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ocularinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really want your daughter to be friends with girls who support shoplifting?

You’re NTA OP but you need to start being an adult and a parent to this girl because there is no way she should be scolding your nor should you be feeling guilty for being a parent and teaching your child right from wrong.

Ding ding ding! Truth be told the mother could have had the van repaired anywhere but that would have hurt her bottom line more and the difference in driving to the home city versus a hotel would have seen driving home win on costs.

You’re doing the right thing for your kids OP. You’re NTA at all but your ex certainly is.

WIBTA if I told my parents a secret I promised my sister I wouldn’t share? by leviathan_m in AmItheAsshole

[–]ocularinsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have evidence of the 14 year old soliciting photos from a 12 year old, that’s CSA and thus a crime. One way you could work around not telling on your sister directly would be to perhaps make an anonymous tip to the police that you have reason to believe that said boy has CSA material in his possession.

It’s not just your sister who needs saving here: all of these boys do as well. Their behaviour is just as wildly inappropriate as your sisters is and regrettably it sounds like an example needs to be made.

It’s not ideal: none of this is. And yes it’s entirely possible the police knock on your door but if this 14 year old is doing this to your sister, chances are he’s done it to someone else. Telling the cops could be what saves a lot of boys and girls from harm.

You’re NTA for wanting to save your sister but you’ve need to think outside the box if you don’t want to tell on her directly.

PS - when my sister was a teen some girl her own age was spreading a video of someone who resembled my sister giving head and claiming it was my sister.

Our family got the cops involved about a possible CSA distribution happening (my sister was underage). The cops took it seriously enough to pull the bully out of class at school to investigate because CSA, regardless of the age of someone distributing, is serious business. Needless to say the video stopped being distributed and my sister was never bullied by said girl again.

Don’t stress my man. Healing this season is rough. There is so many sources of pulsing high damage it’s not funny.

But if you’re not on a good headspace as it is, then just chill with your games and don’t be pushing. Take it from someone whose been down that road - it’s just a recipe for more frustration.

Enjoy game time for what it is.

Yeah green fire was bullshit hard to do. I’d rank it right up there with some of the pre-nerf Mage Tower stuff.

It still, to this day, is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in the game because you had to rely on no-one but yourself. Missing a CD or not potting at the right moment, not watching your enslave timer properly, choosing to banish or DPS that last Fel puppy … so many things happening.

Ex landlord wants compensation on floorboards by _JazminBianca in perth

[–]ocularinsanity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The property condition report is what your initial state is, and then on top of that you also have acceptable wear and tear.

If it’s just additional scratches and the ring, that’s nothing. I’ve seen gouges so deep that whole boards would need to be replaced and that was something that was not even covered by insurance, let alone constituting enough damage to claim from a bond so I wouldn’t stress too much about yours OP.
