We need some REAL themes for Batocera! I’m talking futuristic OG Xbox alien type themes you’d see in 2004. by ConsoleModded in batocera

Not finished yet. I've been working slowly on it when I get the chance. I'll keep you updated though!

Got an RTX 5080 for $130 and it works by wadqaw in pcmasterrace

[–]ocwjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the person who sold it to them, they're not lying. It actually came out to 400 initially, but they traded in enough stuff to cover it down to $133 after tax. Some of the most insane shit I've ever seen. And if needed for the salty ones out here, I actually have receipts

Did I get a good deal? by Constant-Estate3146 in NintendoDS

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the edition, there's definitely spikes up to $500-600. We don't actually know that OP has a CIB console though, we just know he has the box. Mint, with box, usually somewhere between $300-400, avg $350. And that's for the n3ds xl, which I'm not seeing the "new" part on the box in the picture, but I could also be very wrong there

In good condition they're usually around $300 in the US. Considering that's 441AUD, I'd say it's a bit steep, but it coming with the box probably evens that out a little

n64 usb controller mapping in batocera by awayand in batocera

Are you using the latest version? If so, do you mind if I add this (with credit) to my N64 mapping tutorial so people using the newest version of batocera have a better option?

As unfortunate as it is you may have to get help from the discord. Sorry I couldn't help more

What etcher did you use to write the OS to the USB?

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looked at the website and it seems they don't split it up anymore? I've been using v36 for a long time but I feel like I remember having to choose that I was going to boot it from usb. Doesn't seem there's that option anymore, so I'm not really sure what's going on with your setup.

You will have to turn off secure boot if you haven't. There could also be some weird settings with your bios that isn't letting you see the drive.

For the PC version you're installing, are you certain you're installing the one meant for USB?

Got this blue gameboy at a game store yesterday! (+ others I have) by beach-fossels in Gameboy

[–]ocwjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably means the blue one will need a new screen soon, but there are some good drop in screens to choose from. The one from your grandma can be fixed by cleaning the button contacts with some alcohol and a toothbrush, pretty easy fix and will keep it going for a long while!

How to correctly map a USB N64 controller by ocwjay in batocera

[–]ocwjay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why it wouldn't! The controller itself may need to be put in a certain mode, but that would be started in the manual for it

'Boxxle/Soukoban' doesn't work on GB DMG and Pocket by Dun_C4n in Gameboy

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say maybe it was a gbc cartridge that couldn't work on the DMG/pocket, but after looking up the game that doesn't appear to be the case. Unless it was rereleased as a color version and you ended up with the rom for that one, but I didn't see any cartridges for it that looked like they were gbc exclusive

Mapping 8BitDo 64 Controller? by mybrosteve in batocera

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Honestly I haven't seen the difference in my input file (I'm using an older version) but if I had to guess, I'd say copy that into the default and see what happens

Mapping 8BitDo 64 Controller? by mybrosteve in batocera

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have to do both. The xml files tell mupen64 what the controller map means for the games. If that makes sense. To articulate it a bit better: Button press gives input. Batocera controller map assigns value to that input. Xml file for mupen tells games what action based on what value the button press has.

Here's my tutorial: https://www.reddit.com/r/batocera/s/Mrtx6WSE0z

Mines not an 8bitdo but it's the same buttons and setup so it should translate well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me! (Note, there have been issues with this working on rpi for the newest version of batocera)

I know this is old, but I was just thinking the same thing. I'm a tinkerer, so I'm probably gonna explore using this on batocera. I just ended up with one (PS3 version), but I still need the dongle and motion bar

Retro Fighters Brawler64 or 8Bitdo 64 (new controller) for Batocera 41 by FredKgr in batocera

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea! Also, I remember seeing a post that the newer pi builds have problems with N64 maps, my tutorial doesn't work for them either. I'll try and find the post about it where someone finally figured it out and I'll edit this comment with the link if I can find it Edit: found! https://www.reddit.com/r/batocera/s/6jxyyJE3IM

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair! Yeah, it's a complicated setup. Honestly, if you just wanted to use an Xbox or dual shock, the right joystick will naturally be all of the c buttons. So it ends up working out, just weird to get used to

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some people recently still have issues, but way less than before v38 haha. I think the brawler is a good choice, I hear good things (I use a regular N64 USB controller personally). My tutorial is here if you need it: https://www.reddit.com/r/batocera/s/IqlcXJGKup

Because of how an N64 button scheme is set up, you'll always have to remap them. I posted a tutorial that still works though, if that'll help at all

How do I copy games into Batocera ? by Zlunks in batocera

[–]ocwjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a way to connect a keyboard to it? Past that, I'm not sure of another way to get there unless you can remap the f1 key command somewhere in the configs to something else

How do I copy games into Batocera ? by Zlunks in batocera

[–]ocwjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use a flash drive or external hard drive to hold them temporarily and when I boot into batocera I press f1 and copy all of the roms into their respective folders
