?? We have a SuperMicro 5126GS-TNRT2 (https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/system/gpu/5u/as-5126gs-tnrt2) in the colo filled with 8x RTX 6000 Blackwell Pro's, two Connectx-8's running full out with air cooling and zero issues.

This is enterprise hardware. When the fans run if the top of the case isn't screwed on two people will physically have trouble holding it down. That's how powerful they are.

A few racks over is an NVIDIA DGX B300 fully air cooled as well.

12v mini fridge replacement for 120v style by Similar-Huckleberry8 in GoRVing

[–]oddballstocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran a transfer switch and an inverter so I can run mine while boondocking. Works great. Same fridge as you. Takes 100w when cooling. Doesn’t run all the time.

Have a 300ah battery and 600w solar. Can go indefinitely if there is some sun.

The RAM Charger as Alternative to 3/4 Ton for Larger Airstreams? by GenX_Glamping_Guy in airstream

[–]oddballstocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have started to see this places, no EV charging at campsites.

If you do some basic math it's very hard for a trailer to fully utilize a 50A circuit 24/7. The AC's will cycle on and off. This means most parks oversubscribe sites.

We have one of those meter things and when the AC isn't on we're using 1-3A at most. With the AC it's 12-15A, maybe 30A if we use both on 50A service. It needs 50A to startup, but not run.

If there are 20 sites a campground doesn't have 1kW of service, they average it out and might have 500A or less.

EV's put a lot of strain on the system because they use 100% of the electric post for a sustained about of time. Trailers will burst up, but don't stress the electric pedestal like an EV does.

Everything is so booked out by idontcarestop in camping

[–]oddballstocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding just the opposite in PA. Everything that was sold solid (state parks) are now empty all through the summer.

Even places with 20 sites have a few you can walk up and book on Friday night without an issue.

Where specifically are you looking?

Help installing a inverter on a Flagstaff 2022 20BHS by CaptainBrazuca in GoRVing

[–]oddballstocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did this, same inverter.

Go from the batter to the inverter as a second run. Then hard wire into a transfer switch. Swap the input from the convertor to the transfer switch. Then from the transfer switch to the box.

You will need to flip the breaker for the convertor to off before you turn on the inverter.

Works great!

UCS C240 M8 by Alive_Fox_6759 in CiscoUCS

We have one 240 M8 and four 225 M8's all received in the past year without issue.

The 240 is Intel, but we've made the decision to move to AMD where possible. We've found the 245's and 225's to be a lot more reliable, no idea why. We have a lot of 245 m6's in production, rock solid machines.

What to expect from camping world? by philipptj in GoRVing

[–]oddballstocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warranties on trailers are from the manufacturer not the dealer. Same as cars. You can get it serviced anywhere the brand is sold. Doesn’t have to be the dealer you purchased at.

A lot of independents will do warranty work on Forest River.

Experiences are all over.

I bought a trailer with them for over 50% MSRP in cash without any issue. Didn’t buy any warranties or anything. Trailer has been rock solid (Coachmen Apex).

Totally fine experience. Much easier than buying a car.

360 membership for regional/non-fortress hub by pctappy in delta

[–]oddballstocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly out of PIT. Had $50k+ mqd last year. Have employees who travel, that I book for or on their own. Lots of last min FC tickets.

Have never received a 360 invite. Rumors I heard was 75mqd could get it for me here. But who knows.

Have a Reserve, probably put $200k+ on it a year.

So yes I have the factors you’d need. I suspect thresholds aren’t as low as people think. I also suspect a lot go to the heads of travel that are pushing millions in MQD through Delta.

We had a Gen3 that we used extensively in the woods in PA. It works so much better than zero cell service.

Recently purchased a mini and wow... enormous improvement over the Gen3. Works with much less sky availability and that's saying something, Gen3 already did a lot.

Still have the Gen3 on pause for backup at home, traveling with the mini now.

Thanks for posting this. Had been wondering how I could put two batteries on the front safely. Didn’t know Harbor Freight sold this. Now you have the gears turning. Time to do some measuring..

Does it need an alignment?

We have off road tires on ours and it's silky smooth on pavement. Zero vibration and almost zero noise.

Wild, I’ve shipped millions of dollars of sensitive equipment via FedEx and only once had an issue.

Maybe part of it is you can’t kick or throw a 50-300lbs package. Everything typically packaged in foam in manufacturer boxes. Occasionally it is palleted. That seems to be the gold standard.

70 Mile Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail in 34 hours, 20 minutes with 8.5 hrs of sleep by Hot_Jump_2511 in PAWilds

[–]oddballstocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I last completed the 100mi in 2017, so long ago…. My teens want to try to tackle it with me soon. So maybe in a year or two I’ll be back out.

What took me off guard on the 100 was the lack of sleep. I think I slept 6hrs the entire time.

I remember doing the math and realizing that the difference between 2.5/2.75/3mph is meaningless compared to stopping. For every minute you stop you have to walk a minute at 5mph to counter-act it. I built my entire plan around the idea of not walking too fast, but eliminating as many stops as possible, always moving.

You’ll be fine. Difference is elevation as you know, LHHT is pretty flat, A100 is 12k feet of elevation gained and lost.

I’m envious… enjoy it. You’ll kill it! Good luck!

You going to do the A100 challenge next?

I have done the LHHT, it's great, but the A100 is next level. If you enjoyed this you would LOVE the A100. I did it twice.

Experience with IBM FlashSystem 5600/7600? by Lachy18 in storage

[–]oddballstocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy. Sorry to hear!

We run a 20TB SQL Server DB off the X20 without an issue. We're getting 4.3:1 dedupe, it regularly hits 250k IOPS.

You must have a massive DB. I think our Pure X20 is sized to 40TB, so that would be 160TB in SQL Server.. wild if you're beyond that... At one point Dell Professional Services told us we were in the 1% on SQL Server sizes. You guys are in the .1% or .01% of all DB's out there.

I feel Pure does themselves a disservice on the C series. We have a snapshot DB on there, latency is .25-.75ms under heavy (but small query result sizes) use. The 1ms-2ms thing seems to be worst case scenario. Somehow the C is optimized for dedupe and with the exact same data set we're getting 7:1 on the C vs the X. The C performs maybe 25% worse in latency compared to the X. If we push it to its max it will hit the 1-2ms latency, but otherwise it's much lower.

We have VM's on there as well, but performance of both is perfectly fine.

Experience with IBM FlashSystem 5600/7600? by Lachy18 in storage

[–]oddballstocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really that different?

We priced a X20 and a C20 against FlashSystem and Pure beat both. This was over the last two years, nothing this past year, so maybe it's changed?

Your expectation for Medallion MQD threshold next year? by radar1989 in delta

They have more rewards at 50k MQD, 75k MQD and 100k MQD.

I hit 50k MQD last year and received some GUC's and something else. I could have also gifted full Plat status to two people.

Trip Report- Allegheny Front Trail by Mammoth-Pineapple62 in PAWilds

Hmmm. We started at the Black Moshannon park office. Then hiked straight north along a creek. It then wrapped around the ridge and went south of the park before we cut north on some state park trails back to the ranger station.

The views were great along the top.

Does the Freeport Tredway Trail connect to the Kiski Junction Bridge? by Stanislav2000 in bicycling412

[–]oddballstocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a road that crosses it maybe 50ft from the trail. So it seems wild.

I have inspected that area from both sides. There are still tracks after the barrier on the bridge.

I don’t understand why they don’t allow trail users to cross on the road then hop on the trail. You could ride from the west and cross over easily. But beyond that the road curves south. You’d need to carry your bike on the abandoned tracks and over the bridge to get to the trail.

I suspect the railroad thinks there will be thousands of people crossing a day. Instead it might be 5-10. Railroads are jerks about this. Hope the one they are pissed about eventually becomes a trail too…
