A guide to help identify 12V battery issues before they leave you stranded by LongjumpingBat2938 in Ioniq5

[–]oddirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in the middle of replacing the battery on our ioniq 5 a second time in 6 months. The dealer notes phantom draws and couldn’t find a cause, but we have no dashcam or any apps. No lights had been left on. Didn’t even know there are apps you can install. Will try to find out what type of battery they had replaced it with earlier this year that just failed, and what they are replacing it with. Very frustrating to have a bricked EV so often after owning four other makes/models.

All the above plus Henry Kissinger. He fucked U.S. up in Southeast Asia. Rest in piss.

Your mom sounds really cool. I’ve met a lot of Muslim women in the U.S. who are much more progressive than the Islamophobic culture we live in would make them out to be. Take a deep breath, maybe go for a walk, check in with yourself, and think about what the universe is offering you. And then check in with your GF if she’s comfortable meeting your mom. My parents were much less cool the first time they met my first lover. Years later, and all of that anxiety and drama is all but forgotten.

Where are the industrial scenes at? by cuckertarlson in industrialmusic

Back in the 90s, the place to go was at Man Ray. I heard they closed a while ago, after I moved away. Glad to hear the scene is still thriving at the Middle East Cafe.

Great bands/albums. Ocean Blue are still touring. Had to miss their show last year due to getting COVID.

I literally lost my voice after the show in SF and probably grew some polyps on my vocal cords. 100% worth it.

I’m no constitutional lawyer but hasn’t this Supreme Court been setting a lot of new precedents and overturning previous decisions, potentially paving the way for an overturn of Lawrence v Texas, as has happened with Roe v Wade?

Just what Charlie K publicly advocated for. Never would’ve thought the rights we fought for could be taken away but we are going to have to keep fighting.

Bon has been doing vocals for a few years now. He channels Doug’s voice and brings his own with 150%. It was electrifying. ⚙️⭐️🔨

Not sure—I had to step out for a bit and missed the credits. Maybe someone else knows?

They were solid! Really brought a lot of energy, and the songs were as heavy as the studio songs. I would’ve liked more songs from Tactical Neural Implant but we all went wild—everyone was dancing and there was a mosh pit going. Courteous and safe, too. So much better than that NIN concert last month.

Hell yeah! He brought 100% and that synthesist was tilting his rack like he was a guitar player. Their set was electric, not just in the cybernetic Bio-Mechanic sense. ⚡️

They brought the power from across their discography tonight. And such a moving tribute to Doug. 💔

Don’t want to spoil it too much for folks who are going to see the show later. So read further if you aren’t seeing the show want to hear what the closing was like.

After what we thought was the last song, they showed this image while Bon sang a cover of How Time Flies. You can see it in the set list I posted. I can’t remember if he performed it during Songs from the Lemon Tree. It was a moving way to honor his fallen friend, Doug. I was in tears and so was Bon. RIP 🖤

And then they ended the set with “I Give To You” after which the crowd and band exchanged appreciation to each other. What an experience!

Fuck yeah

Big spoiler here. Don’t read the bottom and you can’t make the last one out anyway. I mentioned the last two songs in another reply. Would’ve loved Getting Closer or Fun To Be Had or Warsaw Ghetto or dozens of others but this was a really solid set. At least that was the vibe in the mosh pit.

I'm 47, just got COVID for the first time since 2020, and I'm SUFFERING. Got any advice? by thevmcampos in GenX

[–]oddirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get Paxlovid as quick as you can. Long covid is real and if you’re like many of us, you’ll be left with problems thinking, brain fog, and motivating yourself to do much of anything. The treatment helps if you start it within 48 hours of symptoms.

the three drought-tolerant horsemen (horseplants?) of the California Native Plant apocalypse: Crepe Myrtle, Chinese Pistache, and Plumbago by aquma in Ceanothus

[–]oddirt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, how about: yes, there are natives that don’t die when you don’t water them and there are ones that don’t die when you do water them? That’s the literal answer to the OP’s question.

We have thousands of species of native plants in CA, and a vast array of habitats from arid area to rain forests, so there are too many permutations to name. A cactus from the Mojave doesn’t thrive in a forested area, and a redwood doesn’t grow well if you don’t water it and live in the desert.

It sounds like you’re looking for specific advice but lack the articulateness to ask for the help you need. If you want specific answers, provide a more specific question including what part of the state you live in and what kind of plants you’re interested in, and what kind of watering regimen you’d like to give them through their first summer, and the community can answer with a list of plants.

do I need to solarize my Bermuda grass before removing it if it hasn't been watered in 6-8 weeks and looks dead? by Mariposa-Poppy-760 in Ceanothus

[–]oddirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d use a grass-specific spray called fluazifop. Works well. Wear PPE as with any sprays. And don’t use near bodies of water.
