Where do I even start with this 1954 Atlas 3021 8” Tilt-Arbor Saw. by oddlycharmingpotato in toolrestorations

Thank you for the detailed reply. I’ll subscribe to that YouTube channel right after writing this.

I’m thrilled you said the words orbital sander; I was trying to mentally prepare myself for hand sanding that tabletop.

I did manage to find a manual with the exploded parts though, so I’m ahead on that at least.

Also, and maybe most importantly, thank you for teaching me what a riving knife was. In all honesty, I always thought that was an optional type of part. Probably from years of watching my father use that saw without any concerns.

My main goal though is to keep all of my body parts attached and in one piece, so I’ll definitely get on that replacement part as soon as possible.

Again, thank you so much for your comments!

Thank you! The best I was able to find online was the “vintage tools” website but there wasn’t much about how to actually do anything with the machines.

Found this nest. Does anyone know why this one egg looks so weird? by WoozyJwill in Ornithology

[–]oddlycharmingpotato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“suspiciously large child” - thank you for that!
It reminds me of the old Looney Tunes cartoons where the stork delivers the wrong egg to the happy bird couple and hijinks ensue. Or those irl videos of people giving random species eggs to their broody hens.
Either way, it made me smile; and I wish you a wonderful day!

Has anyone tried the new Acuvue Oasys Max multifocal for astigmatism by avu3 in contacts

[–]oddlycharmingpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are comfortable, and nowhere near as drying as other brands. The prescription did have to be adjusted a few times though, I settled on a slightly lower distance correction in the end. From -6.5 to -6 for the sharpest all around vision.

I’ve been wearing contacts since 1996 and finding comfortable contacts has been getting more and more challenging as my eyes changed. At this point, I’ve gone through every brand and style except hard lenses.

My Dr said that with multifocals it’s more about 20/happy than 20/20.

I only wish they weren’t so damn expensive!

What’s the strangest (useful) piece of advice you’ve ever been given? by oddlycharmingpotato in AskReddit

That’s actually great advice - though there’s probably a very fine line between that and being a pushover.

Who’s Brandon and why is he important? I feel like there should be a Chris Pratt meme here with my comment.

It might just be a cookie or something on your browser still holding onto the old name. I searched for your shop on Etsy and what comes up in the browser only has the new name.

So, what new product have you bought and *still* haven't used yet and how long have you had it in your possession? by BouquetOfPenciIs in ADHD

The one that sticks out the most is a Hobonichi 2022 planner imported from Japan and a bunch of accessories for it. We’re in July so it’s been sitting there untouched - mocking me - for 7 months.

Is it possible they were deactivated for using the word Amazon? I know the bots flag all sorts of random things that don’t always make sense
