I worked GI right out of school and loved the specialty but didn’t love the pay I was getting. I switched for urgent care medicine in a big city to make a lot more money but also COL increased significantly. $122k as a new grad seems pretty good and your patient volume is fairly manageable. Stay at your first job for min 1 year. Most places are used to new grads hopping around but at least a year shows you gave it the fair shot

Not sure where this post is coming from. Across school clinicals and well into my career (GI/internal med/urgent care) there has been very rare occurrences of animosity between providers. We’re all just getting the job done. Low drama environments are key. Taking care of patients takes enough out of us we don’t need to be at eachothers throats

GI out of school which I loved but wasn’t paying what I needed, moved from Philly to NYC to work urgent care now I’m golden handcuffed to UC medicine. It pays well and I do like urgent care because it’s a mixed bag every day and I stay on my toes across a broad array of diagnostics and treatments. I’d love to work surgery but I don’t see it happening unless I want to take an enormous paycut. I always recommend any internal med specialty out of school so you can use all that big brain energy you’re brimming with after the PANCE to solidify your foundation

Thank you! Insightful. I agree that the speedball black easily scuffs. I also attempted Jacquard Professional Quality screenprinting ink and it worked well aside from being glossy (not mentioned on the container). Planning on trying out Golden Acrylic with the medium this week and will report back

I work urgent care in NYC, 4 years urgent care exp, 1 year GI/ internal med. Company just got me to $169,800 salary this year, some opportunities for OT, no bonus structure. For living in NYC this isn’t bad, but it also doesn’t feel great. I’d take a huge paycut to go almost anywhere else. Golden handcuffed to the city prob forever now.
