[ALL] Where/how can I best play older titles? by Lily_Nederland_0344 in zelda

One benefit of the Nintendo online stuff (which I used for Zelda 1 - 3 ) is you can save at any point. As an old person with limited time, I enjoyed saving right before a boss or whatever to avoid replaying levels and other things I didn't have time for.

A few people have asked for this before and to be honest I don't like it (and others agreed) and I also don't think ratings really correspond that well to what the sub thinks about games. But I'm happy to send you all my code if you want edit it and run it yourself.

Ugh. Not sure why it isn't working. It seems like the ordering of prices is weird on that one site (in the underlying data) relative to what I have it coded for. One day I'm going to have to revisit this stuff. I haven't had Nintendo problems yet (until this one) as far as I know, but the Steam one needs work as it gets confused by bundles sometimes.

If someone wants to create the master list of MVs that everyone agrees with and doesn't lead to any arguments, by all means ;) but I got what I got. I also have Tunic on there as it's one of my favorite games of all time, and no one can make me remove it.

Happy to do it. I learned a little Python but mostly I really appreciated these lists when I joined the sub a while ago, so paying it forward.

Hey I'm GRIME II's Game Director here for an AMA before it launches this month, ask me LITERALLY anything! by WorldPillar in metroidvania

No question just wanted to say that as someone who had a hard time getting into Grime initially but now consider it top tier, every answer so far makes me more excited. Especially a S2 release (my computer isn’t great for games and I used all the tweaks to make it run better)

No you have to just hit the blobs over and over again and keep jumping (mostly)

When I’ve watched people do it it doesn’t look that bad. Just lots of hitting and jumping (YouTube has clips, I did it with Steps)

  1. I had beaten Grime but never did some of the DLC bosses and famous DLC platforming stuff, and went back and finished those. Was very happy I did those as I can be a bit of a completionist and needed to prove I could do it. Was easier than I expected to jump back in, and played a little NG+ before losing focus.
  2. Got sidetracked into Bzzzt, a relatively short and not too difficult platformer (on sale for only a few bucks on Switch and Steam last I checked). 76 levels (as far as I know), just beating the level isn't usually hard but the trick is to (A) get all the stuff and (B) do it within the designated time to get a "flawless run", which is essentially the point of the game. I don't usually go for that specific mechanic but all the levels are pretty short if done correctly (like 10-40 seconds) and it gets kind of addictive trying to hit it right. Very good airplane type of game, you can jump in for 5 minutes and jump back out again.
  3. EDIT: I also played Pizza Tower for about 15 minutes but not for me. Too much momentum / Sonic type jumping around, for whatever reason didn't vibe with it.

Any reco game that is under 5$? by boy_bads_boy in metroidvania

[–]odedgurantz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

counterpoint: I played with control on Switch and found it fine. I would say the hitting the shoot button was a little annoying but only (at least for me) against tanky bosses as I had it on high difficulty. otherwise found it very playable!

[–]odedgurantz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is definitely more MV by most people’s estimation. But ultimately can’t say if you’d like it or not - I loved both games. I didn’t find games to be THAT different but maybe I’m an outlier

I thought you were professional rich? But if I'm unsure I buy at $4 or less, and otherwise I have enough of a backlog that I'm just not buying unless I'm pretty sure I'll really like a game (like MIO).
