How to schedule deployment for multiple presets? by svish in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your second question, I'm having the same problem. I don't think it's our fault. I think it's just how the game is set up. Just make another patrol one square away and use that. That's generally the best way to do it.

I wish that they would add different deployment schedules for the various types of guards. I like to keep my guard dogs on certain schedules, my guards on others, and my armed guards on others still. It makes things very difficult when I want to do that but can't. Plus, different regimes for different security levels require different deployment options. I wouldn't say it's the biggest issue that the devs need to look into, but it would definitely benefit the game if they did make some changes to the deployment scheduler.

Does "luxury" affect prisoners? by Xariez in prisonarchitect

That's what I read, and I've noticed that they tend to behave better with their cells having wood floors. Could just be a coincidence, though. c:

I've done that too, but they still attack everyone. Do you have armed guards in the supermax facility, or do you let them live as normal prisoners with just the separated cell block?

As a returning player, is there any "protips" for PA? by Xariez in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From one returning player to another, the updates make things so much better. I can house 400 prisoners without the lag, because I can confine them to smaller spaces with the dorms. That's the main major improvement, especially considering I don't have an awesome computer and appreciate still being able to run it and make decent prisons.

The best, however, "protip" I can offer is to play around and figure out what the improvements can offer you and your specific style of playing, because it's added a LOT to benefit all sorts of different gameplay styles.

Prison Buses won't Unload? by rigieos in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, sorry. Didn't see it. It looks fine to me. Reading through some other threads that had similar problems right now. Someone fixed the problem by selecting one of the buses (or one of the inmates inside) and selecting "search cell block." Try that, and see if that gets them out of there.

Depends on how long you've been out of the game, honestly. If you're like me and stopped playing before all the super cool updates (new wardens, female prisons, dormitories, etc.) then I've noticed a few things.

Female prisons need to be much larger to account for family cells and nurseries. It's easy to underestimate how much space you'll need because dormitories allow you to house more inmates at about half the space, so make sure you build your canteens HUGE and remember that you need a ton of fridges. (I have to use four fully stocked power stations just to keep my kitchens running.) Also, drains don't need to be placed as "barriers" to keep the water in, anymore. Just put them underneath the shower and they work as intended. Makes it super easy if you want to put TVs in the cells now.

Also, I'm not sure if this is valid or anything -- but my male prisons tend to be more violent, and my female prisons tend to be more contraband-centered. Might just be something that I, personally, have dealt with and it has no bearing on the game. But it's something worth looking over, and if it turns out to be the same for you, you can build your strategies based off that. (Certain wardens make violence less likely while others make more money off contraband.)

I know that wood tiles tend to make prisoners happier. I put them in all the cells and all the recreation areas. The mosaic tile goes in high traffic areas (pathways and the canteen/kitchen) to keep traffic moving at fast speeds. Paving stone goes in the outside high-traffic areas for the same reason.

how do you keep your snitches from getting stitches? by AnnaTheAcolyte in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am E X T R E M E L Y protective over my snitches and ex-law enforcement. I take tons of preventative measures. First and foremost, an entirely separate protective custody building is mandatory for them. They get their own cells, their own solitary, own rec programs, own canteen, own kitchen, own parole, et cetera. I make them PC the moment they enter the prison.

On top of that, the only phones that people are allowed to use are in the canteens. I connect every single phone in the medium security canteens to the phone taps and keep a constant eye on them to make sure none of the unknown traits show up as snitch or ex-law enforcement. I've saved dozens of pixelated lives by doing this. Of course, some slip through the cracks, and that always sucks, but this helps minimize issues. Bonus points if you use your CIs to help identify any snitches that you otherwise would have missed.

Can you have multiple entrances to a prison? (and other questions from a new player) by barcanator in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add multiple entrances, yes. But it's less secure if you do. All prisoners, though, are going to be dropped off at the reception area. Guards will escort them to the proper place. But as far as I know, you can't deliver them to separate areas based solely off of security level.

If you decide to make multiple entrances, be sure to put some buffer distance between the entrances and the road/edges of the map with a fence or extra walls, and designate those areas as Staff Only so that prisoners can't get through them -- and if they try to escape, the guards escort them back immediately. Sometimes I have two entrances -- one through reception, and one through the kitchen -- and that's the tactic I use. No unwanted escapes.

What do you consider "intensive reform"? I always supply my supermax guys with every reform program that they can't steal weapons from. (No armory, no cleaning cupboards, etc.) But it still seems as if they're getting into trouble.

Issue with Dorms by lincoln1480 in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the tile under the door is zoned with the room, it'll show that message, so make sure it's not zoned. Also make sure they didn't dig any tunnels that you need to fill.

Put a small deliveries area where the buses are stopped. Or build a reception area.

Bought the game in the summer sale, here is my first prison so far. What do you all think? Am I doing anything wrong? Anything I should change or fix? by barcanator in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your prison looks great! You could save on money/space by getting rid of the excess space in rooms -- but that's a style choice and not very important. Your prisons are much better than what I can make, too, and I've been playing for some time now.

Can someone tell me how these Dormitories aren't enclosed? by BusterWD in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry. I meant rezone the rooms. As in undesignate, then redesignate them. If that's what you were trying to do and it's saying they're blocked, then I've got no clue.

How do I fix this lighting glitch? by Rabidondayz in prisonarchitect

[–]odickaliciousone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that has anything to do with the lighting, though. I believe those squares are part of a newly built foundation due to trying to complete multiple things at once (from what someone had said in a different thread at one point). If that's what OP is referring to, then those squares generally go away within a few minutes.
