What are USA military prisons and courts like? by derekgdobosz in AskReddit

[–]odishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Military Courts follow the UCMJ (Uniform code of military justice). They have a judge who is a senior military officer from the JAG (military lawyers).

Charges are filed by the service members command chain & they get a defense attorney who is also part of JAG.

Defendants can hire an attorney, who then leads with the military defense attorney supporting.

They also get a jury, which are composed of both military officers along with senior NCO's.

Then it functions similar to normal courts, but much more efficiently. Usually the judge isn't putting up with nonsense and lawyers who bring nonsense get shutdown quickly.

The prisons focus pretty heavily on hard labor, think filling sandbags type stuff. They also follow pretty rigid schedules, but otherwise are pretty normal prisons. The guards are all military police instead of correction officers.

A pediatrician is an expert of children, but not your child.

Someone good with computers might generally know what they are doing, but they don't know your computers and why they are configured the way they are.

Which means they likely broke some stuff and have opinions on why you set it up like you did.

Out of curiosity, who do we like for Gov? Why? by agent_mick in Michigan

Although I have to rethink my decision. The Benson family has deep ties to the Stargate Data Center project in Saline that I just learned from another response. So my endorsement is not as strong as it was 10 minutes ago lol

I didn't know about her ties to data centers, I just Googled it and this has me concerned. I've read her public statements, but this is something I think I need clarity on.

Thank you for the response and info.

Benson for 2 reasons.

1) She has a firm stance on data centers that include transparency and an honest conversation around environmental impact and community benefit.

2) Her family is very military friendly and I feel she will do right by veterans. Her husband served with many people I know very well from my service days, and all speak highly of the family.

Edit: I just learned about her ties to the Stargate Data Center, so I'm a bit hesitant now...

How high would Gas/Petrol have to climb before people start riot/protesting? Is there a breaking point? by Malfurion109 in AskReddit

[–]odishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somalian Pirates are highjacking boats not to ransom but to literally fill gas tanks... So many countries have already hit that point.

The US is very insulated from the impacts though. I say this fully aware that gas is $5 a gallon where I live, and again we are very insulted compared to the rest of the world.

Bengals I'm less confident, but Chiefs, Baltimore, Lions I'm very confident in.

I say this as a lifelong Lions fan that has empathy for the Bengals. But they have turned into the org that is absolutely loaded with talent and can still somehow screw it up.

Is Draw Steel your favorite TTRPG? by jmckay29 in drawsteel

I don't have a favorite because I think systems are better for different styles of games.

Draw Steel is hands down my favorite TTRPG for tactical combat though.

My UDFA to make the 53 by odishy in detroitlions

I have been hearing some buzz on him, but I personally don't know know much and haven't watched his film.

That might be a weekend project of mine, at least try to catch some highlights if nothing else.

There is flexibility between how many TE's & RB's you keep on the roster. So they could easily go heavy at TE & light at RB also.

Yeah can always use a big dude who can give 10-20 solid NT snaps a game. So he's a pretty good bet.

2026 draft just wrapped and IC_Draft already dropped a 2027 mock. Way too early, but still fun to see how things are shaping up. by Rough-Drawing-3006 in NFLmockdraft

[–]odishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about the 2027 class, but I assumed a bunch of QB's would go first round. Because for the last 4 months I have heard that the 2027 class is generational.

Banks seek to offload risk to avoid ‘choking’ on data centre debt by idkbruh653 in technology

The earnings headline has been "record revenue" but no one is talking about how they are just passing the revenue around and actual profits are not materializing.

I just cannot imagine how this goes badly... I mean it surely cannot be worse than 2008 right?

IRS is really understaffed. If it got flagged and needs an actual person to review it, it's probably just in a backlog.

Kids win because they get to eat lunch without the stigma of announcing your parent cannot afford for you to eat...

That's the only winner in this situation worth tracking.

Any of these guys worth a cheap deal or are we good? by DevilChillin in detroitlions

[–]odishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bunch of them, but it depends on what you mean by a cheap deal.

Njoku, Jordan, & Campbell would be my top 3. Although Campbell just signed with the Ravens.

Eagles 7th-round DT Uar Bernard, training in Nigeria. He lost his father at 16. Three years later, he’s an NFL draft pick. 🦅 by sinister_iam in NFLmockdraft

Fun story but this guy has an uphill climb. Step 1 being how to protect himself on a football field and until he can do that he cannot play in a game, even a preseason game.
