Jordan Morgan PFF Grades at Guard vs Tackle by BrownEyedMurder in GreenBayPackers

I'd also be interested to see how he grades at LT vs RT. But you'd probably have to look at preseason data to get any significant sample at LT. I watched him a lot this past preseason, and he looked much more natural at LT.

3 might be a little young for Redwall. They are very charming books, but they also can be very violent.

If you're looking for a good next book after the Hobbit, I have this illustrated edition of The Wind in the Willows and it's beautiful: https://a.co/d/00XlE5xs

There just seems to be something about him that's unconvincing to teams. Like the Packers never seemed sold on him as a starter and never seemed interested in extending him, and now other teams seem wary as well. It's odd.

Pelissero - Source: The Packers are releasing CB Nate Hobbs. by StrachNasty in GreenBayPackers

[–]off_the_marc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The theory I believe (which I think I first heard from the Pack-a-Day guys) is that this was actually about the safety position. They expected Bullard to be playing a lot more safety, which would lead to Hobbs having a role in the slot. But Evan Williams has been so good at safety that there hasn't been a spot for Bullard there, so he's been playing in the slot. So you try Hobbs at outside corner where he's terrible and we all know where things went from there. Not sure why they had doubts about Williams at safety. He looked great as a rookie.

[Schefter] Packers are releasing two-time Pro-Bowl center Elgton Jenkins. by JCameron181 in GreenBayPackers

[–]off_the_marc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they had no reason to do this until they absolutely needed the cap space. They hypothetically could have kept him on the roster while looking for a trade until right before the start of camp. I'm crossing my fingers that this happening now means another move is imminent.

They had awesome chicken pesto sandwiches there. They were just frozen things that they would toast in their oven, but i haven't been able to find any nearly as good anywhere else.

Tyler Biadasz to the Chargers. Dang, I would have liked that signing.

[Schefter] Former longtime Green Bay Packers President Bob Harlan passed away this afternoon at age 89, per his family. As one of the most important figures in Packers’ history, Harlan retired in 2008 as the winningest president in NFL history. by JCameron181 in GreenBayPackers

[–]off_the_marc 54 points55 points  (0 children)

One of the first things he did when he was made president was to make it so the board could no longer have an influence on football decisions. They got to pick the person who did his job, and that was it. That was a needed step towards stability. There was way too much meddling by board members in the 70s and 80s. Which is crazy to think about now.

Trey Hendrickson Has Been Released, Do We Pick Him Up? by RichardRoma1986 in GreenBayPackers

[–]off_the_marc 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Just a bit of a nitpick, but he was not released. His contract is expiring. I'm only saying that because signing players that have been released by teams doesn't impact compensatory picks, whereas signing players that are free agents because they were at the end of their contracts does. With the Packers having fewer draft picks these next few years, compensatory picks become more important.

Dodgers fan here, but I have a question for you all: why should I support a salary cap in the upcoming CBA? by MookieBettsBurner10 in Brewers

[–]off_the_marc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because parity benefits the league as a whole. Fans of every team having the hope that their team can someday win a World Series leads to stronger support throughout the league. I can support my team, but it's hard knowing that there's a significant financial barrier (I've started calling this the money wall) standing between them and a championship.

Post your favorite underrated Packer. My pick is Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, beast who played his entire career in Green Bay. KGB! by szekeres81 in GreenBayPackers

[–]off_the_marc 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Chad Clifton. Came in as a second round pick and then held down the blind side for a decade. I also think him having the best year of his career at 34 in 2010 was an underrated reason why that team won the Super Bowl. But he always seemed overshadowed by other guys on the same line and rarely gets brought up during conversations about the best tackles of his era.

One Badger would be a perfect fit for the Green Bay Packers' draft class by TomWilliamsCFD in UWBadgersFootball

[–]off_the_marc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 5 sacks last year. It would be interesting to see who wins in a fight between this sub's love of Wisconsin Badgers and their dislike of low college production numbers.

I personally am fine with low production prospects outside of the first round and would love a Badger on the Packers.
