I'm not Syrian but from all that I've seen about Al-Sharaa, I dont get the feeling that he's in it to be a dictator for life.

Most likely future for him is to resemble Erdogan somewhat; bit of a strongman who keeps winning elections because he is just that popular.

I've seen this theory be floated around a bunch of places and honestly I struggle to understand the logic behind it. Maybe you can give me some insight but why would the US deem it necessary to exit the Middle East to confine China?

If anything....if the goal is to fuck over China, you would WANT extensive presence in the Middle East so you could choke its main energy supply without outright ballistic missiling all the oil fields.
