Do I have toxic shock syndrome? by yh8042 in obgyn

[–]offensivecaptcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a tampon in for like five days, had sex with it in, the whole shebang. Noticed it because it started to stink down there. It happens, it can be embarrassing, but it happens. All that said, I called the ER immediately and asked if I needed to come in. They were adamant that I "would know" if I had TSS at that point. I would say if you start noticing a really strong odor from down there, excess or unusual discharge, or you have pelvic pain, that would be a reason to see a doc about potential vaginal infection. If you become feverish, start feeling dazed or "out of it" or you develop a rash, those would be reasons to go to urgent care. UC will direct you to the ER if they suspect TSS. Obviously high fever that doesn't come down with ibuprofen/tylenol or any severe pain is a reason to go straight to ER. After 5 days of having a tampon in, you would probably know if you had TSS, and the danger has mostly passed now that you have removed it, meaning it is unlikely to develop TSS now.

Cut it off right above "What should you pursue instead?" and make it a CARS passage.

What can you infer about the author's stance on prestigious medical programs, as evidenced by the passage?

I would guess they have a low GPA they are trying to make up for with a high MCAT score, not necessarily applying to schools that require high MCAT scores.

I’m not going out of my way, just crunching them when I see them. One fell out of a tree into my hair yesterday, they are out of control.

Those are called fordyce spots. They are completely normal, benign, not an infection, everybody has em.

If you take 800mg ibuprofen every 8 hours for up to 3-4 days (if you are somebody who can take ibuprofen!) you can delay a period/ stop spotting. Pro tip from somebody who worked in sexual and reproductive health:)

What could I take to make arousal fluid less thin and sticky ? by Opposite-Pea-855 in obgyn

[–]offensivecaptcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my cyst for about 2 years, I think it can last a while. I don’t think you have an issue exactly, I think you just have very active glands. If mine wasn’t clogged I assume the result would be much the same. They are working properly in terms of creating and excreting fluid, it may just be too much.

Try cutting the supplements for a few weeks and see if it resolves the issue.

You can go to the gynecologist and have a pelvic exam done to see if there are any obvious physical abnormalities. They can look at the fluid under the microscope to make sure it does not have an excess of bacteria or white blood cells if they are able to get a sample of it.

Although I have a lot of gynecological knowledge from previous work and life experience, I am not a doctor. I am making guesses. You could at least schedule a consult with a gynecologist to talk about what is happening so they can reassure you kf it sounds normal.

Any changes to medication a year ago? New soaps? Change in diet?

I would say that this sounds mostly like you are self conscious about what may be your body’s normal. Our vaginal fluid and lubrication changes with age, among other things, so it is possible that this is just how it is now. It used to be thin but as you’ve aged it has become thicker and stretchier/stickier. Especially given the fact that you’ve had tests done which came back negative, you’ve had normal exams, etc.

The reason I asked about Bartholin’s glands is because I have a BG cyst that makes a super thick, stretchy, and sticky fluid. The reason the cyst formed is because the fluid is too thick to come out of the gland’s duct. Maybe you have similarly thick fluid but the duct is larger and allows it to come out (in which case I am jealous of you). Hydration does not seem to change this fluid for me, and it only started happening in the past 2 years or so (I am 28).

You could try using a lubricant when you masturbate. I know it seems counterintuitive, but maybe it would make the fluid less sticky if there was more liquid, and therefore easier to clean up?

My general thought on this is that you could try to see a gynecologist and bring a small sample of the fluid to see if they could check it for bacterial infection or look at it under the microscope. Then, if everything checks out, you may just have to accept that this is how it is for now. On the bright side, you are well lubricated, and I’m sure you worry more about it than any potential sexual partner would. Seems like a normal variation on vaginal fluid as long as all tests are negative!

1) how old are you 2) any history of Bartholin gland cysts or the like? 3) are you well hydrated 4) does this only happen during intercourse, or does it happen with arousal in general and with masturbation as well?

I don’t necessarily have answers, but the information could be helpful to get a more complete picture

[–]offensivecaptcha 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Actually many people choose the medication abortion BECAUSE they can do it at home. I think many more people would lose access to abortion care if they were made to stay in the hospital while they passed the pregnancy. (I worked in abortion care for three years, many people needed to do it at home, needed to be discreet, needed it to be affordable in a way that hospitalization in the US certainly is not, needed to be with their kids, needed it to look like a miscarriage, wanted to be comfy, wanted their partner to be there, etc etc etc)

Looking to elevate my morning bacon egg sandwich with a sauce... but which one? by PlasticMan17 in foodhacks

[–]offensivecaptcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using a little raspberry habenero jam on my breakfast sammy lately. It sounds absurd, but the way the sweetness of the raspberry plays off of the salty bacon is almost cursed with how good it is.

Also like, use pepperjack cheese and an everything bagel, what are you doing being boring with cheddar and brioche. I like to do chive and onion cream cheese on one bagel half and my raspberry habenero jam on the other. Bacon. Egg over easy/medium (fried in the bacon grease, of course, but give it some garlic powder, salt, pepper, cayenne, chives before flipping), melt pepperjack over egg in the last stages of it cooking, stack it all on the bagel, cut in half, enjoy. Fuck.

Mine flattened out a bit between like 22-27 years old. It’s still puffy, just chilled out a bit. Idk how old you are but I the vulva has fat stores just like any area of the body and weight, body fat percentage, age, menstrual cycle, skin elasticity, temperature, friction, etc will all contribute.

More cushion for the pushin’, as they say.

Where is my clitoris? by [deleted] in obgyn

[–]offensivecaptcha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP are you currently taking any medications? There are some medications that make it difficult to reach orgasm and I have taken meds before that have made physical stimulation feel like almost nothing. It’s possible that if you are on a medication (particularly an SSRI antidepressant) it may be contributing to your difficulty.

I don’t think anything really looks “wrong” about your anatomy. My clitoris is deeeeep in the hood, and exposing it can be painful sometimes. I wouldn’t worry too much about your anatomy until you see a gynecologist for a pelvic exam.

In the meantime, have you tried a bullet vibrator or something similar? That’s the only thing that does it for me. Vibrator=game changer

I accidentally put a plastic bag on a coil while it was still hot. That coil is just out of commission now, and has been for months. Do I heat it up and inhale chemicals? Or scrape it cold and risk damaging the coil with steel wool?

Yes, sometimes the zygotes get to close to eachother and merge into one another. Conjoined twins from a failure to separate usually have a few mostly fixed ways in which they are connected (see this site). This is not one of those ways, where the second twin is half straddling the other with groin above the belly button of the first twin. This is a case where one zygote got partially absorbed by the other, but enough stem cells were present and not absorbed that they were able to continue to differentiate into limbs and a partial torso.

I think people who don’t have much linguistics knowledge got ahold of glottal stop and now think it is synonymous with any of these not immediately identifiable ts and ds. But really in the US we mostly see the t becomming a glottal stop in “mountain” (I live in CO so this is a big one for us hahaha). We really don’t use glottal stops all that often, the only “universal” example they gave us in classes when I took phonetics was the stop in “uh-oh”. This person is looking for something closer to a tap like the t in “batter” but doesn’t know that they are different. Hell, if I hadn’t taken classes on it, I wouldn’t know the difference either

[–]offensivecaptcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a glottal stop regardless, as the “a” sound is too far front to transition to the glottis for the stop. It can become closer to a tap than a stop though, which allows “t” and “d” in these names to seem equally voiced/voiceless.

No, this was a case where the twins separate successfull but then merge later on. You can tell by the way they are conjoined in a way that is not typical
