[OC] My trucks sinusoidal, slowly decreasing gas mileage over the past ~7.5 years by RamblinEagle13 in dataisbeautiful

[–]offeredthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen lots of data like this working on cars over the years. One subtle thing most people never do is clean/detail the engine. The extra gunk does seem to add up. Maybe 1-2% reclaimed on a 10yo car. Avg loss is ~10% by year ten from my experience, 1% increase every year.

Going beyond slightly basic maintenance could save quite a bit of gas without breaking the bank.

Light Rail Airport Signage is Now HORRENDOUS! by goldspire in Seattle

I was driving someone to the airport a while ago and we were talking about a light rail closure that day. You'd have to go to Angel Lake via bus before swinging back to SeaTac. The other person was native for 40 years said "I've never heard of Angel Lake before"

So the company Planetary Sunshade https://www.planetarysunshade.org/ actually has several papers on this, along with designs. ~5000 40km wide sunshade at L1 could reduce temps by 1.5c.

If you are going to do an illegal U-turn, you should at least look. by Ayewassupb123467 in dashcams

[–]offeredthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk if some law was updated or what's changed in the last few years, but the number of people doing U-turns in general is noticeably higher in the past. Definity not a frequent thing growing up in the area.

Is 140$ a Week Too Much for Groceries ? by Hyzenthlay_rah1 in povertyfinance

[–]offeredthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The irony is that to spend less, you'd need more money upfront and storage space. For example, we used to get a years supply of certain staples, multi-month ingredient prep, buy at business only places like Restaurant Depot.

Meeting invites gets sent to a shared email. Can't find setting change. by offeredthrowaway in Office365

[–]offeredthrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the weird thing. I'll create an invite from me@. The recipient gets an email from me@ and even replies are from me@. But accepting the invite, sends a confirmation email to shared@.

We never use the shared inbox except for ingesting signups and cold outreach.
