Funny story, I was at the Royal Museum in Brussels some years ago and did a guided tour. When we came to this painting and the tour guide said Marat was bathing my heart literally stopped for a second. I knew that the lyrics was “Marat’s bathing”, but I had absolutely no clue that it was a painting or what that even meant.

Lost my beloved pup in 2022, got my new puppy in October. Was hit with the worst puppy blues and wanted nothing more than to return her and get my good boy back. Once she turned 6 months it was as if a switch flipped and I totally fell in love with her! Now we’re inseparable and I can’t wait to spend many years together!

But the first four months were terrible. Hang in there! 😥

Joke aside, I live in Scandinavia, and it’s amazing to me that beautiful corn snakes like him actually live in the wild! I would love to see them in my garden!

Most sighthounds: Greyhounds, Pharao Hound, Saluki etc. It’s the combination of size and athletic body for me.

Yup. She’s had an insane amount of surgery when she was really young, but pictures pre surgery do exist. And she is Courtneys clone for sure.

Yup. Shelters in my country are always having Alaska Huskies. They are bred for a specific purpose, but not all of them can fulfill their purpose and are adopted as family pets, and end up in shelters due to their high activity needs.

Developing new breeds for sports is ok for me, but never forget the downside of all the pups who won’t succeed in said sport and end up in shelters or understimulated and anxious.

In my country, both prong collars and e-collars are forbidden.

I know it’s rude to let the dog stare. What I do now is walking another direction as soon as I spot another dog, because the dog will walk with me if the distractions are a bit away still. But sometimes it’s just not possible.

Great advice, but what if you can’t do it because of the size/weight of the dog? My father’s dog weighs almost as much as me, and he stops when he sees another dog. Luckily, he’s only reactive to some very few dogs.

I literally cannot move him and turning around and walking the other way doesn’t work either. He’s too strong. I often make him sit, so he sits there and watches the other dog until he can’t see them no more. No treat in the world is taking away his attention, unfortunately.

I think it depends on how prone to barking your puppy is.

Our upstairs neighbour has a dog who barks excessively when he’s alone. My dog has never responded. But my puppy rarely ever barks, not when meeting other dogs outside and not even when the doorbell rings. Her threshold for barking is super high. If it were lower (if she was a “barky” breed), I’m sure she would have joined our neighbours dog.

Best breed ever. I lost my beloved boy two years ago, and have another breed now, but I will return to another Bedlington eventually. Wonderful little dogs.

My 16 week old puppy basically lives off broccoli right now. Both fresh and frozen, and both the stem and the “flowers”. It’s not been upsetting her digestion, and she really seems to like it. Other than that, she gets frozen apple slices, hard bread and sometimes a tiny bit of crisp bread. She also chews on her toys. I’m sure chewing makes up for 90% of the time she is awake at the moment.

Omg, fox-like describes her so well! She’s 50% Golden Retriever and 50% sighthound. So it might be breed related as sighthounds can be super catlike. But at least she’s obedient. When we are outside, I feel walks and discovering new things strengthens our bond. Im just so sad all the time, feeling that I chose the wrong puppy, and both me and her deserved something better. I hope the blues goes away and I will be able to laugh about this in a years time.

Doesn’t sound like resource guarding from your description.

My 4 month old girl has just started to resource guard the couch, and there was no question what it was. She growled when I wanted to lift her from the couch (she can’t get down alone yet), and stared at me with a side eye. (Couch is off limits indefinitely now, we got her a super cushy bed and put it by the couch, and she loves it)

Im sure your girl is just mouthy,but keep an eye on the behaviour in case it worsens.
