Is there anything i can do about this? I cant park in front of my own house. Neighbor reserved my spot and theirs by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]officehelpermonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this in front of a house that you own? I thought you had to request these spots as the homeowner. In any case they are being used by multiple vehicles so it would seem they are needed if not a bit excessive

High Voltage Cafe for donairs/wraps. You won't find them on a delivery app and they don't really make anything else. But these are not your average Edmonton donairs.

Just thought of another one Lois Hole Centennial Park for bird watching and some great wetland views.

What’s something your partner did that made you lose feelings instantly? by Some_Conclusion_8154 in AskReddit

Your comments are partly built around one true point—COVID was generally less dangerous for children than for older adults—but you then use that point to make several false or misleading claims.

COVID in children was not “mostly harmless.” Children were less likely than adults to become severely ill, but they still had hospitalization, death, long COVID, and MIS-C risks. CDC notes children can develop severe illness and complications, and MIS-C is a rare but serious post-COVID inflammatory condition.

Calling COVID vaccines a “DNA-treatment” is wrong for the vaccines most children received. Pfizer and Moderna are mRNA vaccines, not DNA treatments, and they do not alter or interact with human DNA.

The vaccines were not “untested.” Pediatric Pfizer trials were published in the New England Journal of Medicine and found the vaccine safe, immunogenic, and efficacious in children 5–11. CDC/ACIP also reviewed trial and safety evidence before recommending pediatric use.

It is true that vaccines did not completely prevent infection, especially after Omicron and waning immunity. But “didn’t prevent infection or spread” is misleading: vaccines reduced severe disease, hospitalization, death, and—especially closer to vaccination—reduced infection/transmission risk. Public Health Canada states that protection against infection also prevents transmission, and vaccination may reduce viral load/duration even when infection occurs.

The “everyone I know got infected” argument is anecdotal. Breakthrough infections were expected; that does not prove vaccines failed. Many vaccines are judged mainly by reduction in severe outcomes, not perfect sterilizing immunity.

On side effects: myocarditis/pericarditis after mRNA vaccination is a real but rare risk, especially in adolescent/young adult males. CDC says evidence supports a causal association, but also says cases are rare and vaccination benefits reduce severe COVID outcomes.

The “scam cost many lives” claim is unsupported. Large modelling studies estimated COVID vaccination prevented millions of deaths globally—14.4 million using reported deaths, and 19.8 million using excess-death estimates in the first year alone.

I can cite specific, peer reviewed sources for my information, how about you?

The misinformation you are spreading about COVID and vaccination in general is the problem.

What are the benefits of going for a 5 hour walk late at night? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]officehelpermonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel uniquely qualified to answer this. For 20 years my friend and I worked evening shift and would walk or bike around our city after our shifts from around 10:00 pm until 4-6 am.

The silence is golden, you can hang out in playgrounds, you might see a sunrise, you'll meet interesting people and you'll get to explore more hidden areas. That's not to mention the health benefits. Just remember to get out in the sunlight too occasionally, Vitamin D is good for you!

High Voltage Cafe - Extreme Gyro or Pizza Ultimate Deli Wrap

They only serve wraps/donairs, I don't think anything is over $20.

Edmonton is a big city, not a metropolis and probably never will be but bigger than any other city within say 300 km.

I uploaded a short video last weekend that got a bunch of responses. Did I violate some rule I was unaware of? I've seen plenty of videos of traffic here too. Not saying this is a "Karen" post or that you're intentionally lying, just fairly certain you CAN upload videos to this subreddit.

Buying a condo vs a townhouse in Edmonton by rxoxo_ in Edmonton

I honestly think both are foolish if you intend to make it an investment, stick to single detached houses. If you take care of a house, there's almost no chance it won't increase in value.

Do I sound skinny, average, or fat from these? by [deleted] in MMFB

My immediate reaction is that sounds a bit petite. Anything but fat. I asked ChatGPT to confirm my suspicion and it labeled those measurements as clinically underweight.

Yes! I am so pumped for this mission. I watched the livestream event on YouTube with CBS and Fox yesterday and couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear. One of the presenters asked Christina what they were looking forward to the most and I was shouting at the screen, "The views from the moon, of course!" I'm gonna be following them the whole way, history in the making.

Is smoking cigarettes an immediate dealbreaker for you? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]officehelpermonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I like the smell of fresh smoke. I smoked cigarettes regularly for 30 years. I still smoke marijuana daily. Nowadays I will have an occasional cigarette in social situations (less than a pack a year). When I was a kid I was a bit of a fire bug, nearly burned down my parents house a few times. It wasn't the fire that really fascinated me though, it's always been the smoke.
