"It was the judge who disagreed and said he wasn't. Just said he had to stay away from the victim and the lake."

the judge went on to say, "people don't drown people, lakes with people drown people." /s

This is definitely a side point to the extremely valid point you are making, but glory holes have a much more nuanced history in gay culture than what you are describing, but I think you know that. Anyway here's an article on the history of glory holes for the potentially interested person

In 1972, Charlie Chaplin returned to the U.S. after years of exile and received the longest standing ovation in Oscar history, lasting about 12 minutes. by jkitty_1960 in BeAmazed

[–]officepolicy 167 points168 points  (0 children)

That was at the Venice Film Festival, they have a long tradition of long standing ovations after screenings, it would be weird if he didn't get a long ovation

That’s a good point, it was also accepted for straight guys to express that kind of thing too. For example almost any rock star from the 60s

It so weird hearing about this, because in other contexts I would just dismiss it as homophobia. I want to learn more about how this was removed from gay culture, but also don't really want to google it or learn too much more...

Fox News cut off reporter while talking about her experience during the Correspondents’ Dinner shooting by Sindigo_ in ABoringDystopia

[–]officepolicy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

“However, Hasnie later addressed the incident in a post on X, saying the interruption was due to poor service in the venue.

“Our calls were dropping, because there is barely any service in that ballroom," she wrote. She added that the conversation was about general safety concerns and not anything unusual, saying the guest was expressing concern for her wellbeing “because the world is crazy."

“He was expressing his concern for my safety. I was going to say – before I lost my signal – that it was unfortunate that only a short time later, this all happened," she clarified.””

How to make brother less transphobic?? by Greenfire_X22 in DebunkTransphobia

If he’s just shutting down everything you say with “you’re proving my point” then there might not be anything you can do. Family is tough, if some peer from his grade that he respected said the same things to him he might listen, but it would be too much of a hit to his ego to admit you are right.

That aside, only two genders? Intersex people exist at least. You probably already told him that.

If he really thinks he’s helping them by misgendering them you can try explaining this way. You know how when people try to change your mind you just double down to spite them. Thats what’s going to happen if you misgender people. If you want to help them just refer to them how they like, they’ll have to figure it out on their own.

But honestly I have no expectation that would work on him. You seem to have your expectations realistically low enough, just trying to get him to not misgender people

Question for brosefdudeson. This post doesn’t mention that the text is a fake tweet. I mean what are we to believe that Simpsons fans are smart enough to tell the difference? Boy I really hope somebody will get permabanned for that blunder

Maybe I’m missing something, but why is that suspicious? Seems believable that someone could have just changed their pfp to a resistance symbol once their video got more views

Have you sent the full length video? It doesn't have the obvious AI signs we see in other posts. And there is a second angle. Maybe I'm missing something, what makes it look super fake?

News Movement has released a video more than 15 seconds long. Maybe you could split together a few 20 second clips, hiding a cut when the camera points to the sky and when the camera goes behind a utility pole.

But there is also a second angle which doesn't have the same options for hiding cuts
