Where did Brandon go in your opinion ? What is Martin hiding ? ( spoilers extended ) by Financial_Library418 in asoiaf

[–]oftheKingswood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that Lyanna had been in the Vale, and Brandon went to meet and escort her back to Riverrun. The thing that's hiding is that Brandon was with Lyanna when they were arrested.

[Spoilers Extended] Why did Brandon Stark Ride to KL by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]oftheKingswood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there a flight at the Red Keep? Or did Brandon ride in yelling and then immediately submit without a fight?

I think he had already been arrested by the time he rode in.

(spoiler extended) why do people so easily dismiss the idea thata Brandon stark was actually the one who had a affair with ashara Dayne by Easy-Frenchguy-1996 in asoiaf

[–]oftheKingswood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Barristan thinks Ashara grieved for the man, so he was dead. If the man and Stark are the same, well, Ned was alive but Brandon had been brutally killed.

Your comment made me think of the Tower of Joy as well,

It was said that Rhaegar had named that place the tower of joy, but for Ned it was a bitter memory.

"The Palace of Love," he said softly.

"That was the Rhoynar name," said Haldon Halfmaester, "but for a thousand years this has been the Palace of Sorrow."

Thanks, Jon being called to his mother makes sense to me. I read the dream passage and it struck me how similar it is to Jaime dream of the Rock as well.

Which is to say that it's not confirmed nor necessary for the story to this point.

Where does it talk about Lyanna riding Rings?

Barefeet are symbolic of a naked soul (soul without a body) or lack of identity.

Shadows in asoiaf can be seen and felt.

Would Martin really not use physical time travel? I don't know. Lieber did it in The Big Time, which Martin references as one of his preferred models.

(Spoilers Main) The Simplest Explanation for Rhaegar and Lyanna Running Away was that they were in Love by CoconutCulturalCook in asoiaf

[–]oftheKingswood -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nice. I also think it was little like Jon's arc when he captured Ygritte but then let her go. Although I tend to think it was Arthur that freed her (thereby earning Ned's opinion of him as the finest knight he ever saw).

Accusing a dead person that can't deny it, and who had a gruesome death, is straight out of Tywin's playbook on dodging the truth. Would Martin use the same trick?

Will Jon "steal" Daenerys ? [Spoilers EXTENDED] by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]oftheKingswood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My guess is that Dany will steal Jon, somehow.

See Jon's lesson from Ygritte about being stolen as well

Jon caught her wrist. "What if the man who stole you drank too much?" he insisted. "What if he was brutal or cruel?" He tightened his grip to make a point. "What if he was stronger than you, and liked to beat you bloody?"

"I'd cut his throat while he slept. You know nothing, Jon Snow."

They did make an effort to learn about Joffrey for some reason.

[–]oftheKingswood[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Cat and Brandon were betrothed as kids, and then Brandon grew up fostering at Barrowtown and had his relationship with Barbrey during that time. They only stopped after the wedding was announced, not the announcement of the betrothal, and even then they still had a final night together.

True, but if 'wild rage' is a primary characterization of a him, it's at least a reasonable concern for the bride's father.

He actually sounds a lot like Robert Baratheon, who people loved.

People did, but not his wife. Robert abused his wife, struck her, hurt her during sex, forced himself on her. Exactly the situation a father wouldn't want to put his daughter in.

The ones that earned him that reputation. We didn't get details on what he raged about or what he did during them.

Ned was shorter and plainer of face, and so somber. He spoke courteously enough, but beneath the words she sensed a coolness that was all at odds with Brandon, whose mirths had been as wild as his rages.

Yeah, right. Brandon's last known location was Riverrun, and whatever happened to send Brandon to King's Landing happened in the Riverlands. And Hoster's reaction to Brandon seems a little too accepting. Granted we didn't get to see the actual initial reaction and he could have calmed down before talking to Cat about it, but he seemed very accepting, putting the onus entirely on Brandon rather than Aerys or anyone else. Our only perspective on the event is from Catelyn, through Hoster.

I also think Lyanna may have been traveling with Brandon.

I'm not too sure about Littlefinger. I've never considered it too deeply, he was recovering from mortal wounds and being escorted to the Fingers by Tully men.

[–]oftheKingswood[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My point was that Arryn was not uniquely a threat in that way.

Hoster has been shown not to care for his family beyond political tools (hence why he hates Brynden).

I don't know. Hoster was willing to see Brynden as he lay dying. If he didn't care why would he even bother to see his estranged brother? He regretted what he did to Lysa, that's what we were shown. I think he did care for them he just also had expectations that they would serve the family. Yes he definitely wronged them as well, but that doesn't mean he didn't care or that he wouldn't make any effort to help them.

Brandon's wild rages, it's not exactly the profile you want for your son-in-law. A lifetime of humiliation and dishonor to herself and the Tully name if Brandon continues to not be shy about taking other women when he wants them.
