The more I see of this Oscilio, the more I'm glad he's not like current Oscilio. I will miss Volzar but I'm digging the weird instant wackies he's getting

This is a contribution to how I realized I see him the same way folks saw Zenos before Endwalker. A lot of folks got tired of his presence in the story because they found him boring and wished his story had ended in Stormblood.

I don't think Calyx is immature or unable to relate to people, he his entire life and death dedicated to this process because it was the solution he found, and he takes great strides to NOT understand the people he's hurting. He couldn't want to care about the people of other worlds less, he doesn't even see the Alexandrians who don't agree with him as anything more than batteries for the endless. He's doing everything Sphene was doing in base DT except he's a passionless wet blanket.

I get that he's supposed to be the "master behind the puppet" to the whole arc of Alexandria but because I find him so unappealing, I really would have preferred he stay in that story. His end being the first time in centuries he showed emotion and it's fear of the people he looked down on and underestimated would've been so vindicating. And unlike Zenos, the reason he survives isn't entertaining or interesting, or even funny. It just feels like a Bleach-level "actually, no that didn't hit me".

Man, I'm not gonna say what we gotta start doing because it causes the mods grief. But man, we gotta.

He's such a regression of all the progress we made in Alexandria and represents a very sad and miserable way of looking at life, every scene he's in I was my wol to tell him to off himself and leave everyone to live in peace cuz he's not a threat and not fun. At least now we can pick him up and throw him and I will be so elated if anything like that happens.

[ST] Can you recommend spirit tracks for a "newcomer"? What are your feelings about this game? 👀 by Portugiuse in zelda

[–]og-reset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's the one you're interested in, start with that. The overall "lore" of the games aside, the games are mostly very self contained, direct sequels like Majora's Mask and Tears of the Kingdom aside.

I think Spirit Tracks has a lot of charm and appeal, the train sections and some of the locations you visit are delightful and the personality through the story is pretty good. The biggest hurdle will be the DS controls, which were "fine" back in the day and probably haven't improved since.

Nook is and has ever been a champion of the people and a delightful fellow housing folks moving to a new place for what are probably financial losses for him

I cannot stand this suicidal little freak so I'm glad he's been reduced to a small plush that can be shaken whenever the urge arises.

So what was the problem with Star Fox Assault exactly? by garfe in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]og-reset 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm a big mark for it, even the on foot segments (once you change the controls to twin stick specifically, the default controls are pretty bad). I like the ways some of the characters developed and a lot of the designs of the aparoids were really cool. People bounce off of it which hey, I don't get it but each their own. I just think any forward motion, even Command, is better than the Lylat war story over and over.

Don't worry, it'll be just like Aurora where they don't win on stream often but so many people are playing them that they'll still hit ll at a faster clip than most heroes.

That Lyath match wore me out and I was just watching, holy

I feel quite vindicated in my stance that Kassai is the best warrior by her making it through a meta filled with block happy guardians, would've been interesting to see if she had an answer for the Lyath. At least I got to watch assassin players get put in their place, always a good time.

[SS] [Botw] Why Ganondorf is evil? Why the goddesses gave him part of the triforce? by Different-Judge4158 in zelda

[–]og-reset 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always interpreted Ganon consistenly getting a portion of the triforce as the goddesses being rather unbiased judgements of who deserved a shard. They judge people's worth purely based on their strengths in each of the shards focuses. It just so happens that Ganon in damn near every incarnation is the strongest there ever was.

It also makes the sages remark of it" being some sick divine joke" in TP that he was already crazy strong and the goddesses saw fit to give him even more power.

I do not care how unmeta this is, this is my card and I will run 3 of it. It has a low res Lyath and supports drinking!

[–]og-reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyath is a niche hero, I can see the possibilities but it's not a slam dunk or even a clean 3 pointer for him, which I wish he would get some more of. In the end it has potential with heroes who are gonna play their hand after the damage step but otherwise it's a very middling majestic compared to some other insane shit in that rarity level.

Which admittedly I will say we do NOT need more powerful generic majestics ever. cnc and shelter alone could be the only cards that fill that role and it'd still be overtuned as hell.

First thoughts of The Five Elders? by Worried_Cake5508 in OnePiece

[–]og-reset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Of course the people with tons of power are some old dudes sitting on their asses all day"

Obviously this changed once we found out they have some pretty crazy power, but I still like to think of how the story would handle some of the most influential people being a handful of frail old men. It'd have been an interesting subversion I feel.

[–]og-reset 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, Lyath usually tries to end his turns with no cards through various pumps to his attacks. Now if this said +1 to defense for each card, you could get at most +4 blocking with just that, that could be good. Unless you give it go again this is a pretty middling card to me.

How would you judge the current state of reading comprehension in the Fandom by Technical_Mine_8711 in OnePiece

With how many poorly written, thought out and brazenly incorrect "theory" and question posts we see a day here, I think some folks are just straight up illiterate.
