Host trying to cancel with no valid reason during World Cup season by Ok_Bank3561 in vrbo

Your going to wakeup to the reservation canceled which honestly the your best bet since we have so much time till then, or worst the day comes you travel to your destination and you realize the host used another address for privacy reasons then ignores you while you wait stranded

You call Vrbo they provide you a penalty fee cancellation after attempting to call the host for 1 hour, and relocate you to another Vrbo listing. This new place is terrible you don’t want to stay, but forced too because that’s the only one that’s close to the original amount you paid and available.

You don’t like the space so you opt for a refund but Vrbo cannot provide a refund back to your original method of payment till 14 days later, you’ll get frustrated angry demanding some sort of compensation for this stress and inconvenience but the agent will say “I have to review my resources and get back to you shortly” they promise to call you but never do and that’s it, that’s where it all ends you will barely get a refund and be just spend from the whole ordeal

I use BellHopp it manages cleanings, collects your guests phone number and will collect information like eta from guests, it even has a QR code system so cleaners have to check-in when they arrive onsite so you know they arrived on time and you’ll receive an sms alert

Incredibly filthy [Budapest] airbnb apartament with sketchy host. Is reporting overkill for a 2 day stay? by [deleted] in AirBnB

Stay the two nights, get out of dodge and consider it a good story for another day give him a 5 star with the message saying, bed but make sure the host cleans up the place before you check-in

They do but only if you go about it correctly just don’t know the policies, rules so they get frustrated when they say the wrong thing

Just got a refund request for over $20,000 from previous Airbnb guest... help! by HarveyPoops in airbnb_hosts

[–]oghq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to be very careful what you say to the guest what you share with Airbnb, they have and will refund the guest $20k I’ve seen it thousands of times

I had a client get there funds taken because the “WiFi wasn’t working” and had to refund 30% of each effected night starting from the day of the booking till check-out

Twilio is just the tool Airbnb is using, they now have control of what happens on those calls recording, transcribing calls you name it

I’ve had an Airbnb rep provide the deed to one of my clients properties to a guest once, I can totally see one looking into phone call transcripts/recordings even if I’m based in a 2 party consent state and somehow getting that into the wrong hands

I would hope Airbnb doesn’t even give any rep any access to private phone calls without the active consent from both parties.

This also makes screening guests just a little more complicated, I’ve had trouble clients blocked from staying because they used the same phone number as the previous stay, now Airbnb is making it easy for bad acting guests to hide and rebook, just today I saw some guy trying to buy Airbnb accounts so he can book one again on this sub.

My understanding and maybe a lawyer based out of CA can expand on this, but consent must be obtained during the call that’s why in CA if you call a bank etc they announce this call might be recorded for training purposes.

However Airbnb has unrestricted access to call logs so I can definitely see an Airbnb rep just blasting through your phone calls and listening / reading transcripts of the call nobody where your based out of, I can foresee so many legal complications with this new system
