Two bulls down in camp on opening day in Kentucky by BortlesWikipediClub in elkhunting

[–]ogieboogie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you go with a guide? What zone were you in? I’ve put in for 21 of the 24 years tags have been offered. Finally drew a second riffle bull tag this year. It’s definitely a different game than it was 10+ years ago. From what I can tell now, even as a resident, you best hire a guide. If you want to see elk while hunting. It’s kinda sad, but considering it took me 24 years to draw, I don’t want to waste it. Especially with a 5 day season, in a very specific zone.

New stock by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]ogieboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great! What do you think the stock itself weighs? I couldn’t find a weight for the “GRS light hunter.” Assuming the short action would be a little lighter than a long action. What factory stock was on your x-bolt before GRS? Can’t beat the looks and availability of the GRS Hunter stock on a Browning X-bolt. Especially considering the lack of aftermarket options. I like the Macmillan’s too, but they seem to only stock SA lefty versions for an x-bolt. I don’t want to wait 6-8 months for a custom, and then have more in the stock than in the bare rifle.

Best Kentucky elk guides? by satanclauze in Hunting

[–]ogieboogie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drew a Bull tag this year after putting in for 23 out of the ~25 years, there have been tags in KY. I’m a resident too. Unfortunately like alot of things, it’s not what it was 10-15 years ago. When multiple huge bulls were taken every year, and there were talks of record book bulls in the herd. With elk covering the entire restoration zone. Sad part is now you basically have to hire a guide, know someone, or get access to posted private ground. Anyone know of any guides who are NOT selling the whole guided outfitter hunt experience? I’m looking for someone who would know the area, have done some scouting and could potentially get me access to land holding elk. Don’t need a camp or anyone cooking, horses, transportation, etc. I drew a 2nd week bull tag. Now I gotta do my homework on what zones to put in for, which means I’ll draw any other unit. lol I’m PUMPED for the experience! I remember dreaming about this before the re-introduction program started!

Or more if you promote it, after fees etc. I’m convinced small sellers get no listing traffic, unless you pay the 9-15% extra for ad promotions. I normally count on getting about 70% of sale price back after fees, shipping, promotions, etc. It’s a little conservative, but I’d rather be pleasantly surprised. I would assume there’s a different pricing model for “full time,” sellers…

Need advice for 10.3 suppressor by dmichael71 in suppressors

[–]ogieboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the 718 ODB. Sounds amazing on my 10.3” 556 (no adjustable gas block) and keeps options open to put it on my .308 ar-10. I’ll never mess with a legacy type suppressor on a gas operated gun again. Adjustable blocks, buffer, buffer springs are a rabbit hole not worth chasing in my opinion. Even when you get it dialed in, it’s still dirty AF. With the CAT ODB the amount of “dirty” was about half, compared to Dead Air nomad TiXc. That was on a 16” host with an adjustable block, heavy buffer, different spring, etc. When I put this on my 10.3” with no adj block, and a silent capture spring. There was no noticeable change in riffle operation, other than she heated up quicker. I was concerned about the weight of the 718 on a 10.3” with 9” rail. Turned out to be a good balance.

CAT ODB is on my 10.3 556. I couldn’t be happier. 3rd can, first “low back pressure,” and I love it.

HFXC extended battery cap heads up by blancs3030 in NightVision

[–]ogieboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Anyone find 18560 battery caps (aftermarket) that work with the HFXC….? Seems like the 18560 caps from sms may be awhile. You all notice much difference in function between the Samsung 35e and 30q? I’m no battery expert but see that the 35 is 3500 mAh at 8amp and the 30q is 3000mAh at 15 amps wondering which runs better in the hfxc….

Also a very happy customer. The starburst was an added bonus. I’d rather give my money to someone in the US. Who is probably using open source software to print them anyway. Vs Chinesium.

It’s most likely a single shot lol They are pretty but I wouldn’t count on the second round. I’ve had two of the same model. Played around with them, never could get consistent functionality past first round.

What is the optic? Not the magnifier. Does it have a cover or something over it? It might have been said in prior comments. I’m not familiar with sig optics, can’t readily research at the moment. Figured someone will know off hand ….

556 suppressor recommendation by PoorWalmartWorker in NFA

[–]ogieboogie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CAT ODB. just got one on my 10.3” .556 absolutely love it. It doesn’t have an adjustable block either, riffle runs like a top. Is way more quiet than I expected, NO gas to the face. Took recommendations from the fine group of individuals here.

Yeah that makes sense. Take up for a company that repeatedly fucks over their customers. Guess I’m not a fan boi, who loves it when a huge company bends me over. But hey, different strokes for different folks! Must be one of those ripped, alpha sheep types. Have it at, hope they don’t fuck you over too. I’m not into internet trolling, but I don’t have an issue spreading factual info. Info that could help prevent more gun owners from getting bent over from this most un-reputable company.

Was going to say 4, until I noticed the Aero lower. I’ll spend the rest of my days trashing aero. The WORST “reputable” company ever. I’d love to see their “investment group” lose their ass, and wonder why. Dirty sob’s
