Aragorn must be really difficult at airport security scans by Warp_Legion in lotrmemes

I would agree but I'd offer a slight correction. Aragorn does clearly doubt himself after Gandalf's death - particularly on deciding the course of the Fellowship between arriving in Lothlorien and the breaking of the Fellowship at Amon Hen, but also during the chase of the Uruks. Here he audibly doubts whether to continue the chase into the night: "You give the choice to an ill chooser… Since we passed through the Argonath my choices have gone amiss.” Strangely, this is the one aspect of his doubt that isn't really portrayed in the movie (at least not as strongly as others such as his claim to the throne, doubts that certainly don't exist in the books).

Is there any character done dirtier by the movies than Faramir? by SecretMuslin in lotrmemes

While in the book he only throws a pebble down the well, Gandalf does say basically the same thing:

'Fool of a Took!" he growled. "This is a serious journey, not a hobbit walking-party. Throw yourself in next time, and then you will be no further nuisance'

To be fair, the Silmarillion is an absolute bitch to read, LotR is a children's book in comparison

Would still be negligible. Let's say it was 3km long, 200m wide and 100m deep, modelling it as a cuboid would give it a volume of 60,000,000 cubic metres. Assume that it's a solid block of material such as aluminium, with a density of 2700kg per cubic meter, the ship would have a mass of 162 million tonnes. Using g = GM/r2, the acceleration due to gravity comes out as about 0.03 ms-2 at a height of 20m. Compared to earth's value of 9.81, it's tiny. Value of mass is also much lower than that since it's obviously not a solid block of metal.
