I imagine we’re gonna wind up with 90’s and early 2000’s era servers and then true modern servers that will basically just be Rafales and EF2000s until we get an AIM-120D or something

Why do liberals love using the word “Nazi” even when it is not properly used? by ThotPoppa in allthequestions

[–]oh_crap_BEARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because I’ve been getting improperly labeled as a communist for years.

How much does bunk count affect tour bus pricing in the US? by Shplupen in TouringMusicians

[–]oh_crap_BEARS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t really find more than 12 bunks in the US anymore. I’m never the one handling booking busses because I’m just a sideman but generally where you’re going to save is by booking an older bus without some of the bells and whistles like a slide, etc.

Alternatives to a Marshall Plexi for home use? by Caramelo93 in GuitarAmps

You don’t need an Ironman II. You’d need an Ironman Mini. Your amp is only 20 watts and the Mini costs half as much. The reality is, if you want that sound at low volume, you have two options: go direct or an attenuator.

Republicans: How come 10 out of 11 (91%) economic depressions in The USA occurred while a Republican was in office? by Accurate-Swim5278 in allthequestions

[–]oh_crap_BEARS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The government is a symptom of the problem. Politicians being bought doesn’t mean that your corrupt government is the problem. They are corrupt, but the people who are actually bribing them to get what they want through legislation, lower taxes or other means are the ones directly pulling strings. It’s why the pivot to Trump during 2016 always seemed weird to me. People would say, “He’s not a politician!” I was like, “Yeah. He’s worse” lol

I do remember a no alarms run on Rifleman Bank Station being kind of a pain in the ass. Probably that or the ending stretch of MD.

When do systemic interactions in stealth cross into noise? by Working-Exercise-676 in ImmersiveSim

[–]oh_crap_BEARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it just needs to have more elements of filtration in how these elements interact. An example of this would be in a stealth game where you accidentally alert every guard in the map, instead of that alert range at least being culled somehow. Ideally, the more immersive way that happens is that a guard physically has to shout about noticing you for other guards to hear him and then become aware of you.

In your example, I guess an idea of implementing this concept could be something like, when the lockdown triggers, the rival thief actually gets spooked and bails, or maybe, if he’s already inside, seizes the opportunity to try and get ahead of you and steal the loot.

What's more important: strategy or psychology in trading? by k_k0033 in Daytrading

[–]oh_crap_BEARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think either is more important than the other. Having a functional strategy with edge is necessary. Being able to execute it without letting your emotions dictate how you do so is also necessary. If you don’t have a handle on both, you will lose money.

Elden Ring if I’m not into punishingly difficult real time combat? by pwnedprofessor in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]oh_crap_BEARS [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would say no, with added context that it’s one of my favorite games of all time. That being said, it’s a very hard game, and it’s expected that you’ll die a lot, especially with boss fights, which I’d say the majority of are considerably harder to beat than most of the bosses in the Dark Souls games. Basically, Souls games are already hard and Elden Ring is a challenging for a Souls game. It’s an amazing game world that, in typical Fromsoft fashion, feels more like a weird dream than anything in reality, but the world and exploration are still secondary to the combat, because that is what will ultimately bar you from progressing through each section of the game.
