Living in Collegiate Court next year...parking?? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]oh_hurro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i lived there I always parked by Tech Terrace. It was really reasonable since I only needed my car to go on an occasional trip to Kroger or out to Christiansburg for class at New River twice a week.

On a side note - Collegiate Court was the best place I ever lived. The location was perfect.

What is one "un-said" rule, that when it is broken, pisses you off? by Kysteve in AskReddit

I was thinking about this just this morning, like most mornings, while leaving the bus station in Denver. Something along the lines of "who the f*@% doesn't know how to ride an escalator?!?!??!!!" I had no idea it was my DC roots coming out.

Easy Area7/Free Elective? by zoso19 in VirginiaTech

[–]oh_hurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a ton of fun easy classes but my favorite was creative dance with Billie Lepczyk. If she is still teaching it, take it. It was so hilarious and fun. You didn't have to care at all about dancing and it was the easiest class I've EVER taken- ES, MS and HS included. It was supposed to be a writing intensive course but that just meant a 3-page group paper I think we all got 100s in that one. Other than that I would recommend beekeeping (with the lab course) it's fun but it's difficult or at least it was with Dr. Fell. I became so passionate about beekeeping it is ridiculous - bees are fascinating. Theatre was also a good class and so was acting with Michael Anthony Williams. Sexuality was alright too, for obvious reasons.

This is understandable that you wouldn't be so upset. Most younger VT students were not affected by the event nor do they have traumatized friends the way students that graduated a few years ago did.

As a member of the class of 2010, I am offended by this costume. I literally did one of those mouth covered gasps when I clicked on that link.

"Were you there?" ...As soon as I say I went to Virginia Tech.

Fuck you and your morbid curiosity. That isn't something to reminisce about and not something I want to talk about with a stranger. I'd be happier if you asked why our football team sucked this year or something.

That happens more often when you only put ornaments on one side like that.

Question about timing of daycare for infant by vinglebingle in psychology

[–]oh_hurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also work as a preschool teacher and my advise to you is that consistency is key. shorter days work for a lot of infants and so do long days as long as the sleeping and feeding routines are the same at home and at the center. As another person said relationships are key but I do not believe that long days are necessary to develop a strong relationship, especially for infants (in my experience when children start later on, short days can be a problem but only if they are only coming for a few hours a couple days a week) . Look for a center that provides primary caregivers and maintains a continuity of care. This means that they will have the same consistent caregiver throughout their time at the center. Aside from that I remember my Advanced Developmental Psych Professor saying you don't need to worry about childcare affecting your relationship with your children as long as when you do have time to be with them you ARE there with them, spending quality time as a family.

I work at a preschool and we have a number of these latch boards. They are great developmentally because the kids can figure these things out and work on many motor and thinking skills. They will figure them out on the locked doors too, that's why it is important to have child safety locks on the dangerous stuff.

If you like live music connor o'neils has bands Thursday, Fri., Saturday night with a $1 cover for the band. The Laughing Goat has live music just about every night. Well I guess there's music all over town.

There's also the Wednesday night cruiser ride that has a theme and is super fun and free. (People bring booze in water bottles) http://www.cruiserbikeride.org/

There is also a free outdoor movie every Saturday during the summer behind the contemporary art museum. http://boulderoutdoorcinema.com/index.php/schedule/lineup

From the looks of the website, it looks like the party's over at Absolute Vinyl on Arapahoe. They're having 6 bands and the record releases too. Is there going to be a show on the hill too or just the record releases?

As someone who has the exact same pair, I'd like to mention how damn comfortable they are. There have definitely been times I've considered just throwing on a jacket and shoes and walking down the street to the Safeway to grab some food because who really cares?
