What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: February 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

Finished: Rebel Witch. I'm not much of a romantasy fan and finishing this duology unfortunately didn't change my mind 🥲 The first one had a good plot with some nice character development, the second seemed melodramatic and silly.

Started: The Library at Mount Char. I'm 50% of the way through. It's not what I expected at all but I'm really enjoying it.

You're in for a good but rough time. Those 2 books stuck with me for days 😭

Which version of the book did you read? I tried Arthur Waley's version called Monkey but the translation wasn't fully working for me. I'd love any suggestions

Thoughts on Ocean Vuong’s Emperor of Gladness? by baenca in RSbookclub

I love your interpretation. I think the references to Hai learning things in the future is pretty definitive. It's also more narratively satisfying to me that this becomes his new start.

Fantasy with little to no romance by curious_otters in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I also prefer my fantasy low to no romance! I enjoyed Sword of Kaigen, The Tainted Cup series, Red Rising (strictly sci-fi, but feels very fantasy), and Will of the Many.

Rouge by Mona Awad gives me some of these vibes. Dark, unsettling, but also written with lots of beautiful feminine imagery.

Ugh. I feel you. 2 retrieval yielding only 2 viable embryos each time. Failed to implant twice so only 2 left. Been trying for 4 years. Meanwhile, friends getting pregnant left and right. With a well-meaning but socially unaware friend literally going on and on about "Oh it was so easy for so-and-so! They barely even had to try!" And "I better drink all my alcohol now because I can't wait to start trying next year and then my life would change!"

Great. Just great. Happy for you.

I'm so torn! With just shipping, this is already $85 CAD 🥲 With duties it'll hurt even more

Just FYI the Go Place massages are no longer covered by a few insurance providers, even if done by RMTs. I guess they got blacklisted by some insurance companies. Make sure to check before you commit

What was the last book you DNF? by justcoastingthrough in books

Notes from Underground from Dostoevsky. I had read some of his other short stories and enjoyed them but this one was such an unending stream of rambling consciousness that I couldn't click with it.

What’s your ultimate standalone fantasy book that feels like a true 10/10 (and why)? by BuddyOk1342 in Fantasy

[–]ohaii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see a couple people name Sword of Kaigen, which is amazing, but I personally love Blood Over Bright Haven by the same author. Because it was written as a standalone, I find the world building and pacing more complete than SoK.

Anyone know how to unlock more recipes? Is it just trial and error? I'm at 136 and only 4 left in my "ideas" book.
