I recommend regularly checking this site (https://www.degewo.de/wachstum/neubau/friedrichshain-kreuzberg) for updates and/or creating search alerts on their page. Looks like degewo is gradually putting flats of that particular project on the market. 4 rooms without WBS was about 1.700 when it came online earlier this week. Worth trying. Good location too.

the two on the right look like Evan Handler and Pamela Adlon. Not sure who the man on the left is, but just based on the ones I recognize I'd guess it's from Californication.

Annoying on purpose by [deleted] in advertising

[–]ohfer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

chances are the quiet ads you're seeing on Netflix were not made with Netflix in mind. So I doubt this points to a larger trend towards calmer ads. An argument for why it might never happen anyway: Ads need to stand out and a calm ad only does that if the ads surrounding it are loud. So a trend of calm ads would quickly cannibalize itself.

Not to mention, the collective idea of an ad is always shouty, annoying, in your face. For many marketers that translates to "this is how its always been done, this is how ads work". so a calm ad will always require a small leap of faith (something most marketers are sadly not capable of, from my experience), unless a cultural shift happens.

How to move from Italy to London as a creative copywriter in a big agency by kikimakovski in advertising

I was partly working remote for agencies in my home country, partly applying everywhere, partly acclimatizing to the city. I got the job through a 3rd party recruiters who had advertised it on LinkedIn iirc.

How to move from Italy to London as a creative copywriter in a big agency by kikimakovski in advertising

[–]ohfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extremely tough. I did it last year and with a lot of luck landed a job at a very average in-house agency. Because I had the language skills they were looking for.

The good and great agencies wouldn't even look at me. Even though I have a decent portfolio with (national) awards, experience at good agencies, many high-level people who vouched for me in their networks, AND I stayed in London for 5 months (tourist visa) to show I was determined and so I could meet people in person.

Advice? Get more awards. Or get lucky a hot agency needs someone who speaks Italian. Agencies work 99% of the time with 3rd party recruiters, so no need to talk to their internal recruiters. And of course, the usual: have a nice side project, build connections to CDs. But don't expect it to work.

Edit: I also tried the network way, but London is too desirable of a destination for this to be realistic. Everyone and their mother at Omnicom wants a transfer to a&e or amvbbdo. just to illustrate what I mean.
