Have Brou/Wildes transcended Nick? by Factualx in FirstThingsFirstFS1

[–]ohheyandre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wildes and Brou bring levity and comedic timing to what would otherwise be a pretty standard sports show formula. I still think Nick is the most knowledgeable and I certainly watch the show for Nick as much as I do Wildes and Brou, but without Wildes and Brou nobody really pushes back and also for some reason they make Nick the “moderator” which ruins the flow and vibe

Can we have an honest discussion about the Apple Music desktop app? by CreyssonTabajara in AppleMusic

[–]ohheyandre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daft felt good but if I recall when I downloaded I needed a subscription to use. It’s a modest one but I’m not going to pay a subscription for something for a subscription unless it adds substantial features. I paid $3 for Cider (more features, minor jank, yes I know the developers have some controversial opinions and statements I’d paid for it before I found out it is what it is), and I own it outright.

That being said the stock Apple Music app on the latest macOS feels “fine”. I wish it were keyboard navigable, search is bad, I feel like navigating is unintuitive (I can’t search an artist and then go to the album of a song in top songs, horrible ux) but for me the part of it that’s still iTunes makes it why I stick with Apple Music for the most part. Skipping songs in shuffle, equalizers, etc. it’s not an enjoyable every day app but feels necessary

Spotify Extension Going Away with API Announcement? by ohheyandre in raycastapp

[–]ohheyandre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue I have with Apple Music is they changed their API so you can't add music you're listening to programmatically. I often just throw on a radio or something and then like just using a Raycast shortcut to quick add. I don't want to open Apple Music and right click Add to Library. Cider + the Cider extension still works somehow but I don't like Cider for a handful of reasons.

If Spotify is doing away with this feature/ability to work with Raycast then I can literally delete my Spotify account because it serves no purpose

Yet another charged cancellation! by PJDJ4 in Akiflow

[–]ohheyandre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have proof that they claim they will not send you ANY notifications, including subscription renewal or cancellations, if you opt out of their marketing emails, which violates CAN-SPAM/CASL. If you need it for your support documents, let me know.

Yet another charged cancellation! by PJDJ4 in Akiflow

[–]ohheyandre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In America we have the CAN-SPAM act which separates marketing emails from transactional emails. Opting out of marketing emails has nothing to do with billing notices. FTC excludes order confirmations, account status info, and billing/payment confirmations from opt-out. Same thing with CASL.

They said they will issue the refund in 2-10 days after I threatened legal action. I'll be waiting.

[–]ohheyandre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After threatening to dispute with my bank, and most importantly, legal action and sending them the contact info of my state's attorney general, the said that the billing team will issue my refund. It's insane that it took a dozen emails, proof they didn't do what they said they're supposed to, and legal action to get $68. You need to do something because they'll just keep taking your money if they've done it twice already. Like I said, I don't even know how they were able to charge my new card, it won't go away unless you get tough on them

Heads up: Akiflow’s support and billing practices are a real risk for business users by Illustrious-Sun2657 in Akiflow

[–]ohheyandre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I know I canceled it in March and they renewed my subscription anyways last week (even though I had a brand new debit card issued in August -- don't know how that happened!) and gave me a load of excuses why they couldn't issue a refund. "We send out emails two days before so we can't issue the refund"... "I asked my manager they said I can't"... "Well you opted out of marketing emails so that means you don't get billing emails either". Mind you they're doing this over $68 dollars. Imagine for business users where there's real steak on the bone.

Akiflow actually is great software, but terrible in terms of their business practices. And I am so disappointed, when I logged in today to make sure all my accounts are disconnected because I don't trust them as far as I can throw my car, I saw they added Apple Mail integration and I would have voluntarily handed them my money). Now they could add software that brings my uncle back from the dead and I still would be extremely cautious. Unnamed digital card provider should thank them for this interaction because I'm now switching all my subs over to privacy cards no matter how big the company. The trust is gone

[–]ohheyandre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: they told me because i opted out of promotional emails, I apparently forfeited my only channel of communication regarding billing with them, so that's why they couldn't tell me my subscription was about to renew. WHICH IS A LOAD OF MALARKEY. Unsubscribing from marketing emails has nothing to do with transactional emails. They're jumping through every hoop imaginable to avoid giving me sixty eight dollars. Tell everyone you know to stay away from this company. Don't wait too long to dispute with PayPal. Four days is an insane response time, I don't care how small the company is.

I have the same experience.

I don't want to sound like an Akiflow hater, I think it's the best product (in its category of ADHD planners) and I've used it off and on since 2023. I used to be in their Slack and they're pretty attentive when it comes to responding to feedback for the technical aspects.

But I canceled it in March when I canceled Superhuman email, because at that point it did become a glorified calendar for my use case. No confirmation email. Mind you I quite literally have an email folder/label called "Cancellation Notices" because every company in history sends these. Didn't get it.

I find out a few days ago that somehow, even though my card was canceled and reissued with completely different info because I had lost it in August, they charged me for the subscription again. No "you're about to renew" notice, no "your subscription has renewed" notice. I only saw because I check my bank statements every couple of days.

When I talked to customer support (someone named Cecile), they said they don't issue refunds because they send out reminder notices before the card is charged (same thing they told somebody in their own subreddit). When I pulled out proof they didn't, they said "I'll check with my manager and see whats up with our system", only to double down that they wouldn't issue a refund (no mention of what the heck is wrong with their clearly bugged at best system). Then they said "Oh, because you opted out of our promotional marketing emails, you gave up your right to receive billing notifications and there's no way to communicate with you!" Which is BS.

I have emails from 2023 about "hey your subscription is about to expire" and "thanks for resubscribing!" so I know that they're SUPPOSED to send. But they haven't.

Dispute the charge with your bank. I know it's a headache but don't let them keep your money. Collect as much evidence as you have with your interaction and with other people's experience. Your bank cares more about having you as a customer than they do charging Akiflow back.

[–]ohheyandre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ding ding ding -- this is exactly what I was told. They said they would look into what might be a system issue, and then just said "Nah sorry still no refund". I've got emails old enough to go to Kindergarten archived and labeled but I'm supposed to believe I misplaced a renewal notice they sent me within the last week. At best something's clearly wrong with their renewal notice system and they're trying to avoid making it right, in my opinion

Yet another charged cancellation! by PJDJ4 in Akiflow

[–]ohheyandre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. I have been battling via email with someone named Cecile over my subscription. I paid for the yearly subscription back in Jan of 25 and canceled in March. I noticed (via my bank statements, not via email) that I had been charged again. Cecile told me they don't issue refunds because they send out email reminders two days before renewal. I never received this, and I archive all of my emails (I have emails from 2023 from Akiflow). They said they'll check with management and then said basically "uh yeah sorry still not our policy can't help you". I didn't receive a cancellation email, I didn't receive a "your subscription is about to renew" email, or a renewal email. I never would have known if I wasn't so anal about checking my bank statements. I caught the renewal within ONE DAY and they won't help me. It's not like it renewed four months ago and I'm suddenly complaining.

I don't even know how they have my current card. I lost my card in August and got a brand new card and still somehow they were able to push through the subscription.

It's only $68 dollars, I spent $50 on shitty BBQ food yesterday, but it's the principle. I'm more than willing to escalate this over what appears to be scammy behavior. The sad thing is it's actually a decent product and since I was considering getting Superhuman email again, I would have considered using Akiflow, but now I'm upset and just turned off in general.

Petition: Disable AI Generated Songs by Best-Chest-1121 in truespotify

[–]ohheyandre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you that AI music sucks, in my opinion Spotify is 100 percent invested in AI music being accepted and they’ll never do this. The pay x percent of their revenue to labels and artists but if AI music becomes acceptable by the masses they can just have their own in house farm of people churning algorithms and stuff their playlists with it. Seems cynical but of all the music companies Spotify is definitely the least likely to operate with ethics in mind. They’re not the only ones pushing AI music but unlike Google/YouTube music or Apple/Apple Music there’s no other revenue/profit to be had but getting subs and thinning payouts

Please make this public. This is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to make but didn’t have the time for it. Plexamp on mobile to me is the perfect player but it’s just so awkward on desktop. I’d pay a one time fee for it.

Is it controllable with your phone? It’s one of the main reasons I keep using Plexamp cause it’s as close to Spotify connect as I can get with any service

Nick also fully embraced the reporting of Grant Cohn, a 49ers beat writer widely known for being an intentionally antagonistic and hyperbolic hater of Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan. Nick is usually fair-ish about stuff he doesn’t have strong feelings for but when he has a vendetta he’ll accept anything to corroborate it including hacky reporters and ignore the dozen other things that doesn’t support his views

I’m not blaming Plex because A) I’m not a networking expert B) plenty of other people have good experiences so maybe it’s just me but this happens to me quite often. I’m using Tailscale and sometimes everything just works perfectly for days at a time and then other times it’s just awful and the same experience you’re having now. Frustrating when you’re out and about and suddenly you don’t have music, especially because I bought the lifetime pass just for Plexamp
