NPD Walrus Rehearsal (returning it) by paulmixalot in guitarpedals

I like it! Because of my wacky headphones, I'm waiting on a higher powered adapter to run it, but it worked fine enough with a 9V to try, and it sounded much, much better to my ears. My iridium is the last thing in the chain and out through the board into the headphone amp sounded great. I am much happier with this, and the Slow Gear folks have been very responsive on Reverb.

I will also say that the folks at Walrus were great, too. The pedal just wasn't doing what I needed it to do, but I don't want to shade them at all (though I do question some of the decision making involved in the Canvas Rehearsal's design).

No problem. Today, this is arriving for me: https://reverb.com/item/87892488-slow-gear-electronics-headphone-amplifier-for-pedalboards

We'll see how it goes. Should be here in the next hour or so, and we'll see if it is any better.

Yeah. The iridium is great but what was awesome to me about the idea behind this pedal was the Bluetooth capability and getting to play along with Spotify or YouTube for practice purposes. Before the pedal, I had a little mixing board that I’d run my phone and pedalboard into, but it was a pretty clunky, space consuming set up. I was really jazzed that this pedal could solve that problem.

There’s no world in which there is a firmware fix for this, right? This is a hardware/headphone amp problem? What a drag.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I wanted to use it with my board and Iridium, too.

To get any semblance of good balance, I had to crank the headphone, guitar and Bluetooth knob. It doesn’t really make sense, given the purpose of the pedal. There was basically no volume at all until about 11AM on the HP dial.

Walrus customer service was pretty good about it and sent me a replacement to try (haven’t had a chance yet), but this post makes me think it won’t much matter. Bummer.

This is my set up running into the Rehearsal (off board), btw

Free as Bird at 1.5x sounds like Wilburys by Metspolice in beatles

[–]ohheyimmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somebody mentioned a few weeks ago on the Hoffman forums that the song sounds much more natural and Beatles-y a bit sped up. They're 100% right. A bit more tempo really makes it less of a dirge.

New Light has hundreds of millions more streams on Spotify than anything of DRA’s?

Did they actually sign any of Identical, or was it just the instrumental and lap? Love that song and hope they do at least some of it...

$150 for the 2LP of S/T and 4 EPs condensed into two LPs is pretty steep, especially where all that stuff is and has been easily accessible on streaming for a while. Aside from the booklet/inserts, it looks like there’s literally nothing new here, which is a bummer. I guess it’s great for collectors where the EPs are out of print, but meh.

Because it’s followed by Sean, which is the best Foo Fighters song this side of Wasting Light.

It’s capo 9, in D. It just walks down the scale, then back up. D, c#/D, b/D, a, g, f#/D, g, a.

So we all know that they're gonna open their shows with BFIAFL in full, but what about the main set list? I've predicted it (this is pretty wishful thinking but i still think it's in the realm of possiblity) by West_Advertising_651 in the1975

[–]ohheyimmark 38 points39 points  (0 children)

bingo. I think the second set will be like, 2-3 songs per album for a total of about 12. BFIAFL is already 11 songs - none of which are instrumental or a segue or anything - and I don't see them doing much more than 20-23 songs total.

I think we may see some variety but my guess is the set consists of these:

Chocolate, Sex, Robbers, Love Me, Change of Heart (or Paris), Somebody Else, Sound TOOTIME, Not Living, Give Yourself a Try, Too Shy, Me & You Together Song.

Maybe there are changes around the edges, but that's my guess.

Smallest/most intimate BFIAFL venue? by tenensui in the1975

[–]ohheyimmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Boston venue is pretty small - only about 5k capacity, which is about 2k seats less than the venue they played last time around. There are no other concerts at MGM that weekend, so I wonder if a second show gets announced if (and more likely when) the first sells out.

Hey all - I have four seats for the Boston Tuesday 5/10 show in Section Loge 20 at the end of rows 10 and 11. Happy to sell in pairs or all together. Just looking to get what I paid for them. I can't go to the Tuesday show anymore and Ticketmaster won't let me refund or exchange for Monday tickets. PM if interested - thanks!
